  • Introductory post !!

Hello to everyone on this informative and friendly web forum.

After eons of time pondering over the purchase of an RC Helicopter, I plunged myself into this cosy rotary world last Saturday when I finally stumped up the cash and bought an Esky King 3. Less than 20 hours after purchase, I managed to smash the thing into the ground and watched my money being frapped to pieces .

The thing is, I am actually even more excited about this new hobby of mine because I am an aircraft engineer by profession and will now get the opportunity to bring my passion for fixing aircraft into my house!! I was a helicopter engineer for a couple of years so I know the importance of correct rigging. I now work on Airbus fixed wing for a living. Send me back to fling wing aircraft any day.

I will be lurking for a month or so until I get used to the workings of this site and will hopefully become a regular contributee.

    Happy flying!!

Welcome to the best heli forum on the net. I don't know anything about your particular heli (some would argue I don't know anything about ANY heli ), but there's sure to be someone on here who can help. Also, be prepared for severe wallet strain. This must be one of the most expensive & addictive hobbies going.

Most expensive? Hmmmn, well I used to race bikes, and that was between £500 and £3000 per crash (and I crashed a lot) and tyre bill was around £1000 a weekend, so I thought that getting into flying little heli's would be cheap! How wrong I was. Yep SOOOOOOOOOO wrong. Even though I have skint myself through heli's I can't help but immediately buy spares when needed even though I have no money left.

I am so taken by heli's that I have'nt ridden for a LONG time. (anybody want an 09 KTM530 and an 08 R1?)

Welcome to heli's, and I hope that you keep it up.

You will find huge amounts of help, advise and support on this forum.

            Thanks for the input guys.

Like I said in my OP, this is something that I have wanted to do for many many years and the opportunity has presented itself at last!

There's quite a few lads with whom I work who've recently taken up RC heli flying so we are all learning together which is a good and also a highly motivating way to do things.

I'm under no illusion that learning will take time, patience and money and reading through the sticky in this forum has been useful.

Got a load of spares through the post today so my first crash rebuild takes place after a couple of bacon sarnies tomorrow morning!!

            Cheers for now,

            Blade Flapper
