  • Which Gyro ??? HELP PLEASE

    Hi,

I need help in deciding which gyro to upgrade to?

Currently have the stock one on the blade 400, and after upgrading the servos, its so much more responsive and i want the same from the tail.

If it was a choice of the 2 below, which one would you go for??

    Fast Lad Performance

    Fast Lad Performance

I will have a max of about £115 to spend so both are withing my budget (just), but obviously 1 is with, and 1 is without a tail servo.

    Cheers

Joe,personally i would go for the spartan ds760 if i had the money you have but what i did was i bought a second hand gy401 on here for around £50-£60 then i also got a Futaba s3153 digital tail servo which was also secondhand off here for £19.So all in all it cost me £69 now my Blade 400 is awesome

Excellent, will have to look out for one or go with the Futaba, will it matter much keeping the stock servo if i had the futaba>>??

I use Align GP750 - tail is rock solid. I got combo i.e. including Align DS520 servo for £115 from Midland heli. This gyro can handle Trex 500 - i'm thinking ahead. so far pleased with it. Easy set up process.

i would go for a better servo m8
to be honest your getting a good gyro so the gyro will work as good as the servo you put with it
go for the 9257 servo m8 and you will be good to go
                  cheers

You can't go wrong with the GY401 and coupled with the S9257 servo, it's an awesome combo! I use it on my T-rex 450. Plus the 401 is one of the easiest gyros to set up - it's pretty much plug in and play.

Like i said before the futaba s3153 servo is enough for any 450 size heli especially if your a beginner.I don't see the point in putting that amount of money into a Blade 4oo.Plus the s9257 looks a little ugly on a 450 as it is alot bigger,That sort of servo is better on a 500 size machine IMO.If yor going to start putting this amount of coinage into the blade then i would have just sold it and got a 450 pro, beam etc
This is the servo i use and it is plenty enough to be hoest and half the price of a s9257.

For my Blade 400 I upgraded to the Align 750 gyro and 520 servo combo and it really helped.

                            Futaba s9257 servo.
                            SPECS:
                            Length: 1.40" (35.5mm)
                            Width: 0.59" (15mm)
                            Height: 1.13" (28.6mm)
                            Weight: 0.9oz (26g)
                            Torque: 27.76 oz-in (2.0 kg-cm) at 4.8V
                            Operating Speed: 0.08sec/60° at 4.8V
                            Cord Length: 7.9" (200mm)

                            Futaba s3153 digital servo.
                            Specification

                            Speed: 0.10s/60 deg (at 6V)
                            Dimensions: 21.8 x 11.0 x 20.3mm
                            Torque: 1.7kg/cm (at 6V)
                            Weight: 9.6g

As you can see the s3153 servo is much smaller and cheaper and also much lighter,(nearly a third lighter to be precise) but it isn't that much slower, when it run's ' 6V.
