  • Tail needing trim all of a sudden

    Hello,

Could a change in tail fin cause me needing to add trim to the tail rotor??

I recently changed the tail fin for an angel wing carbon tail fin, and although it maybe coincidence, i have hd to add some trim to the tail rotor to stop it spinning in a circle.

    Any thoughts??

        Hi Joe.
Are you set to use heading lock mode? If so you could have moved the heli after power up while it's still initiating, Or like said above the gyro's gain is too low!
With HH mode the change of fin would not affect it, but if your in Rate mode then it could make a difference from having a solid fin to a cut out CF fin, In this mode you would need to re trim or adjust the revo mixing to compensate!

with the blade a little tip is to connect the battery after you have placed the heli on the ground at the take off point and let it initialise . then fly from that point without disturbing it.

also HH wont hold properly if there is any trim in so make sure your trim is centred, then plug in the power to the heli, letting it stand until the little set light comes on, usually for safety this involves having the radio at low throttle including the throttle trim.
