sounds like static to me, try earthing the ESC and spraying the belt Also wire routing can contribute to things like this. You dont want any servo wires running close to the motor/motor wires. Bunching them all up can do a similar thing also.

I thought you only had to worry about static if you had carbon or FG frames? I'm sure the Esky series is plastic.

Im talking about static on the belt. Carbon frames will make it worse as its conductive, FG isnt BTW. Also i refer to the servo wires because these can pick up electrical noise from the gyro/motor and ESC. Try re-routing the wires and see if that makes any diffrence.

I have the extreme frame on it, which is carbon (I had it on before the crash as well).

I will look for some anti static spray at lunch, what could i get from normal shops that would work eg halfords? i cant get to a model shop till the weekend

you can use MR.Sheen polish on the belt apparently

How is the best way earth the esc?

Can I do it via a spare channel on the rx? ie, put an old servo plug in the batt channel with only a -iv wire and bolt that wire to the frame?

and i assume the motor will be ok, bolted to a -iv frame

If you're so inclined, why not get the whole electric setup out of the heli and run it on the bench. That way you can isolate it from the airframe and hopefully indentify the source of the problem for certain.

Andy, I know all the electrics are ok as they work fine with no pinion on the motor. How ever i may take the head off to isolate static from the belt as a cause and visa vera

try running a wire connected to the motor mount screw to the tail boom as an earthing point, this could help to wick away static, if thats what u think the problem is. are you running 35mhz or 2.4ghz ?

Thanks, will run a wire as you said, and have just got some mr sheen so will give the belt a coating.

Hopefully that will sort out the problem

Big thank you to everybody, I polished the belt and ran a wire between the boom and motor mount and the glitching has gone

Took it for a flight, but crashed due to bad light on the second pack. All rebuilt again and ready to go (did not even break the blades!!!).

                            I am a happy chappy
