  • Simulators - how to keep disciplined?

    Hi all,

I've been plugging away at heli's on reflex for about a year now, and having finally bought a real one I'm keen to progress as quickly as possible. The trouble I'm having is keeping disciplined whilst using the Sim.

I normally fly the Eolo Spirit on reflex (as that's what I bought) and can't help but fiddle about rather than stay in the hover. Does anyone know of any 'exercises' I can do to keep my interest and concentration going without flipping it on it's back to do inverted circuits?

I can fly a plank quite happily so forward flight is no problem, but I drift and stagger horribly in the hover, any hints?

i have seen some very competant pilots struggle to hold a nice hover. Its all in the fine control, holding small stick inputs for longer periods.

you could try doing the hovering M, top hat etc as per the BMFA A and B certs.

blatent phoenix plug: phoenix has an F3C layout perfect for practising this stuff.
