  • Time to say hello

One and all, think I may have done this a little backwards having posted earlier in the week about the maiden voyage without actually having said hi

Anyhoo, have been lurking around for a while having got into heli's with a birthday gift of a contra heli, was sooooo much fun I've ended up hooked.

I've spent quite a bit of time on Phoenix which was one of the first purchases along with flying the cx2 to get my orientation up to some sort of standard.

Having read a lot (read A LOT) on the forum and after speaking to a couple of local guys I took the plunge a couple of weeks ago and bought a Trex 450 Pro I'd already bought a DX7 to fly the cx2 and now mcx (couldn't resist it) so it seemed a fairly decent idea.

Have to admit the maiden voyage didn't quite go to plan, but it was amazing while it lasted, the good news is it's now repaired and ready to fly tomorrow, weather permitting

A big thank you to all of you who have posted on here, the information is A1 and has helped me with my decision to join the world of RC Heli's and a big thanks to Sacko for my bargain purchase earlier :-)

    Welcome Ian,

You have done really well mate... taken all the right steps with all the right helis IMO. And your research has paid off!! phoenix is your best friend and you will soon be loving the pro.

The 450 has loads of zing and when wound up can be a handful. Get it slowed up a little on the headspeed and slow the cyclics down a bit and it should be fine as a trainer and then you can start winding it up as you go

Welcome to the forum and enjoy

Thanks for all your kind welcome's guys.

I've spent quite a bit of time researching my purchases before I'd commit to anything, plus flying the cx2 as I wanted to be sure is was the right thing for me (have a lot of hobbies).

Have to admit I'm still in awe of the 450 pro, it's an amazing piece of engineering which is part of the fun for me (engineer by trade) and am really looking forward to getting some serious flying hours in although at the moment I feel hovering will be my limit.

The cx2 is a great heli and has given me some much needed experience, didn't realise how hard it would be to fly nose in, although I have the hang of that now. Just in the process of rebuilding it after Monday's unexplained loss of control and rather uncontrolled landing

Favourite one at the moment is still the mcx, always feels like an overkill flying it with a DX7 but it is sooooooo much fun, always have to put a couple of packs at least a night through him, annoys the hell out of the cat as well
