hi guys new to the forum and fairly new to RC Heli's,
i have just swapped around about £650/700 worth of RC nitro truggy for aaround £750 of rc heli, well it would have been around that mark if i bought it new.
i have got the trex se v1, spektrum dx7, futaba gy401 gyro, 4x 2100mAh mystery lipos, trakpower pit pro charger and balancer, loads of spares novak charger for the transmitter batteries, 3x hitec hs65mg servos and i am about to order a new tail servo (it had a real rubbish one on there for whatever reason, it is my second heli, first one being a 4ch walkera dragonfly, which i could hover with and fly arounf very slowly and carefully lol (as you have to do in the begining)
so what do you guys reckong to the kit i have your thoughts would be appreciated even though its too late for return if you guys think its not too great...but i absolutely love it....many hours of fun will come from this.
i need to learn how to set the transmitter and heli up (it is already done but id like to know so i can ammend things if anything goes wrong) any one have any good tips for gyro setup with the type of gyro i have?
    thanks for looking
    Dan

Dan, welcome to the forum! There's loads of info here that will keep you occupied for many hours so make friends with the search function where there must be countless posts on setting up a trex on a DX7.

If you're happy with your swap then don't let anyone else tell you otherwise, sure there are newer / better / quicker models out there but that's always the case in any RC type hobby, especially RC Cars.

        Hi Dan
Sounds like you got some nice kit there.
Would recommend a S9257 futaba tail servo, works the best with a gy401 gyro, or try a align DS520 servo also, run that on my lads 450 with a 401 and seems ok, not as good as the 9257 though.
A sim would also be a very good option, and as you have the DX7 would recomend getting Phoenix sim, not going to stop you crashing for real but will speed up your progress and you can progress quicker.

                    thanks for that 163phil...
well went for another flight today, and all was going great, i dont have much problem hovering this heli at all until the wind suddenly picked up to day and caught me off guard, and well some how the main blades managed to hit the tail boom and dint and slightly bend it, i managed to straighten it out and the dint is still there, everything still works but my question is, will this be ok to fly still?

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as it looks like the belt is not scraping along the inside of the tube

The 450 is a little lively in a wind. Flew mine today and it was all over the place. Mind you, that could just have been me
