    Hi

I started my xmas pressie raptor for the first time, as i am about to have a couple of lessons and i wanted to make sure the engine would run ok.

Well after faffing around it burst into life and the rotors sorted themselves out, now the devil took hold of the throttle and wound it up until the training gear was light, i have to say i was nervous as hell, watching and listening, then there was a kind of bang and the main rotor went out of track.

After killing the throttle i found that one blade has shed part of the plastic film that covers them, what should i do now, any advice will be greatly appreciated

Hmmm not sure really other than buy some new blades, sounds like the blade failed for some reason maybe it was fauilty to start with.

Maybe you can post a pic of the blade, but I'm sure someone with a better idea will be along soon.

I did read about some blades coming apart and the lead weight flying out.

Sounds like you had a lucky escape there mate!

Bin 'em and get a new pair, and don't run it up again till someone's given it the once over. What head speed was it running? What throttle curve?

If the blade is ok apart from the covering you can purchase the covering on it's own & recover the blade.

Make sure you remove the covering of the other blade first before you recover the pair of them.

Personally I would just buy another set of blades because I've heard it can be a pain recovering them.

Get someone to check it out first.
There is a lot of energy going on there & a lot of things can go bang. Dangerous & expensive.

Honestly, not worth the risk of trying to hover a badly set up heli.

Thanks for your kind offer Steve, i have just come back from buying a set of carbon blades, it was a flying visit to the shop, if i stayed it would have cost me a fortune lol

As for getting it into hover nooooo, all i wanted to achieve is to know the engine would start, the Helli will be checked over by a pro who is giving me some lessons.
                (thanks for the advice Dave)
