  • Another newbie crash

Can add my name to the newbie crashing log! Lol
Beginning of the week was hovering my belt CP okay and then either something broke or the radio glitched it banked sideways and did not respond to the radio and went into the grass.

    Broke:-
    set of blades
all 3 servos gears stripped inside
    bent feather bar
    main shaft bent
    boom bent
    rear tail shaft bent
    main gear stripped
    lower gear stripped.

Was only 2/3 feet off the ground and was surprised how much broke or bent, although have read on here these heli's use cheap and cheerful cheap parts compared to other better makes.

Then to top it off as I finished work early today , gave my Gaui 200 a go as I have now fitted a wireless cam and wanted to see how it would work with the extra weight of the cam and transmitter and extra small battery I fitted on there, it seemed fine until it started to spin like mad, and lucky enough was only about 3 feet off ground and made it to the ground in 1 piece at least, and then see the tail servo rod lying down on ground, the tail pitch lever arm had sheared off.
Nothing broken except the cnc tail pitch lever though.

My other heli's not ready yet, so guess I will be using my walkera 4-3b or CP2 until the parts turn up for both of these ;-)
Still cant complain , only had a few hard landings since i started to learn to fly these things and only crashed my honey bee cp2 upto now ;-)

Have a great flying w/e all

When I got my K3 I told myself to buy a Spektrum 2.4ghz radio asap as I'd heard the 35meg ones are cr@p, I didn’t and on about the 10th hover I had a serious glitch that flipped the heli over on to its tail obviously causing a crash! I didn’t fly it again after until after I upgraded it with the Dx6i and ar6100e rx and haven’t had a radio related crash in 100 battery packs since!

As Bill91 says, the VERY BEST mode you can do is to throw the Esky radio away and get a DX6i. It just makes so much difference it's unbelievable.

I would agree with above the DX6I is the best TX I have brought so far and flies all my helis.

i like the DX6i too, have all my heli's on it, however my ep100, which became an ep200 with a longer boom & blades, kept cutting out due to static off the belt, it was only till i swapped to the torque drive tail and subsequently the ep200v2 frame ( which u need to enable fitting the torque drive tail ) did this problem go away !
great as the 2.4ghz system is, i wouldn't say it's flawless exactly !

still a good investment though !

Thanks for the comments guys, I do have a Futaba T9CP and agree the Esky is a pile of crap and those darn stupid pots at top which are way too easy to knock, when you are holding the tx.
Once my parts come I will be fitting a new rx and setting it up with my futaba, I use that with my gaui 200 and apart from a glitch now and then which as stuskimac mentions I have also read could be down to a static issue.
Both these helis I bought second hand cheap just to practise on, rather than smash up my unflown mini titan and raptor 30.

              Thanks for the help guys

Sorry to hear of your accidents. Sounds like you're well on track getting the repair parts now eh?

[quote=stuskimac;297881] kept cutting out due to static off the belt [quote]

Instead of spending a fortune you coulda just done a simple mod to allow the static energy to travel from boom to frame, just takes a tiny piece of wire from tail rotor shaft bearing to pre sanded section of tail boom then same other end of boom to an earthing point on the main frame.
I know a few people that have had this problem on TRex 500's and have done this mod and not had probs since, its to do with static build up not having anywhere to go so jumps to frame/rx but it only seems to happen on CF/FG frames, plastic is fine.

yep, did this too, and graphite, it only worked in the short term, got fed up and tried torque drive, never looked back !
