  • More Lipo advice Please

    Following this thread

    http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/setup-...ce-please.html

I took the advice of the forum members and went back to the shop. As I was at work I didnt take the heli with me, just the battery.

I explained the problem and he took it away, tested it and came back saying that the battery was ok, it must be a problem with the heli. He said something along the lines of "the ESC must be set wrongly". I've just looked at the ESC and there's nothing to adjust, and bearing in mind my 1900 battery lasts 6 minutes and the 2500 he sold me only lasts 150 seconds is he talking b0110x?

Assuming your other batt works ok then it's nothing to do with the esc.

ESCs are programmable for speed, timing, start speed, brake etc & I do not know yours, but if one batt works then all should work.

Take the heli in & challenge him to fly it on both batts. That'll flush him out

you could really do with a charger that has a digital display this gives you info on the amount of mah you have used during your flight ect, plus you could charge it from flat to see how much total MAH it will hold.
doesnt need to be a expensive one.

A dead lipo will show a decent voltage when charged and not under load.

I've got an FP lipo that flies well for a whole 30 secs before dropping dead. It's knacked, so probably is yours. Get him to fly it and adjust the esc until he gets 7 mins out of the lipo then thank him for his help, buy him a beer and fly.

If not, it's a new lipo for you.

He just tested the voltage (out the back)
I'd flown using it that morning, two and a half minutes I got out of it before it started losing power, so it was spent, but he said it was showing 12.4v and should work fine.
Took it home and tried to fly with it, it must have recovered a bit but only lasted about a minute. After that I tested it and it was showing 11.9v.
Does the voltage fluctuate when their idle?

                That is good advice.
Cellpro 4s or the new 4s - can't remember the number but it does other batt types too.

No way will I part with my 4s or 10s. Jewels they are!

Yes. They will recover a little.

                  It's knacked!

Anyone give me 50:1 on it not being a knacked batt????

I've got one, I cant remember the exact numbers, they're in my original post, but its about 12.6v fully charged and 11.8v once it starts losing power between 3 or 4 minutes later.

It needs testing under load and fully chargeing from flat to see how much MAH it holds.
If its dammaged it will no longer hold 2500MAH it will be less.
                      It sounds duff to me.

But I followed the instructions to the letter, surely there is some kind of warranty? It was only £35.00 but if I'd paid £100 for one on a bigger heli I'd do my pieces!!!

charge it again from fully flat and look to see how much MAH it takes in,,NOT the voltage.
Its a 2500MAH pac from flat that should be around the amount you can put back in.

do the test i just said about and then we will have an answer,,, the guy in the shop has told you its fine, well if you do this test you can go back with facts that prove its not fine.
