well we will have to agree to disagree then mate. im not trying to score points and havent quoted any bmfa guidelines(not rules 1 point to me i think). and my argument isnt about just club fields, its anywhere. it only takes a few seconds for kids on bmx bikes to come up to you to watch.

you have set your self up as a guy with 20 years experience and im sure some newbies will benefit from your guides (which overall are great). and perhaps when you started and the clubs turned you away this is how you learnt but things move on im afraid.

      Heya....

I can see why flying circuits around yourself is easier then doing them remotely as you always in one orientation as you rotate yourself around in the middle,

But i do have to agree, its bad practice in this day and age, personally, if i was flying my .30 nitro around myself, i would be shitting it, because all it takes is for you to loose control and bam it can plumit and hit you,

But, its each to there own, and how they learnt to fly,

      Great Guides tho,

        Hi

        As Callum says,

I can see why flying circuits around yourself is easier then doing them remotely as you always in one orientation as you rotate yourself around in the middle
I totaly agree that us "old farts" did come from a different generation, as did the pilots of Spitfires, Hurricanes and B17 Bombers, and they all also made it up as went along, (AFTER ALL, THEIR LIVES DEPENDED ON IT) so when we choose the best possible route to achieving the end aim of learning to fly anything, we are looking at the EASIEST way to do so ???????

But the point that Callum has also illustrated is that fllying around ones self just seems to be easier.

I would challenge all the critics of this option to state publicly that they have NEVER EVER FLOWN a chopper between themselves and that mythical site flight line........ - I don't think so if honesty rules ?

Think back and remember when you were learning to hoper and the heli did its natural stuff and backed off toward you ?

Did you instatly remember the Site rules, and drop it on the ground - franky that is most unlikley, so you almost certainly carried on flying, and therefore broke the rules of an offical site, but you also learned how to recover your heli from that situation ????

Does that ring true for any of you if you are truly honest......... ????????????????????

I understand callums point that things have (apparently) moved on, but I would still argue that progress is only useful, and indeed worhthile, if it works in the REAL ENVIRONMENT IT IS INTENED FOR.

If any pilot here can stand up with hand on heart and state categoricaly that they have never ever flown a heli around themselves, or flown between themselves and the "crowd", I would salute them, but I sure as hell would not believe them - Would you in all honesty

in 3 years at DMHC ive seen one incident where a heli came between the pilot and the pits, and that was a dumb thumbs moment. and i will say now believe it or not(i really dont care) i have never flown around or behind myself and hope i never will.and yes if it were out of control i would dump it in a heartbeat!
my flying circuits by my own admission needs improving but if i get into trouble no matter what orientation the heli is in i can stop it and hover it i learnt that first

right ive said enough on this rubbish

like i said in my previous post lets agree to disagree i shall make no further comments on this

Thanks everyone for the feedback, allthough it turned into a bit of a argie bargie about circuits........

Glad that some people have been through the other tutorials and find them useful. Hopefully some newbies will find them too, and they will help them to really get into our great hobby.
