Hi to you all, i just thought id introduce myself. I have no experience of rc vehicles what so ever, so i would like to know what sort of helicopter i should use. It shall be used outdoor mostly but occasionally indoor, Should i get a petrol or electric.....? i will have around £300 to spend on a full set up, is this enough?
Sorry if you have heard this all before but its best to ask before spending money on things you dont need.

Nitro (petrol ) rules out indoor, as I think of indoor, but a good look in the beginners section may help like this thread and others.

£300 is not a lot for a 'full' setup but depends on that you want, size etc. Most 2nd hand are sold less the Tx. Have you talked to a local club??

300 pounds may get you an ebay nitro heli but you want someone who knows something to look it over 1st.

Go for the Walkera No. 60 - it is a good helicopter. Very stable (use Lipo and Brushless Motor)

No don't touch Walkera with a 40 foot barge pole, complete and utter rubbish

300 will only get you something very cheap (and poo) probably better to get a twister bell 47 and a sim such as phoenix.

Maybe save up a bit more for now or get a Sim like Phoenix to start practicing with and find some local clubs,go along and see whats going on and what peolple are flying

walkera

as am new to this wonderfull hobbie, i sit hear reading all these post and always notice that walkera have a bad name, wot are the pro's (if any) and cons of what to me, seem like something to be avoided at all cost. wot are the best on a buget of 300 pounds, regards martyn.

I started not too long ago on a similar budget. Due to a work colleauge bringing one in, I bought an E-Sky Honey Bee which is a simple fixed pitch heli £95. I crashed it - a lot!
A few months later, I bought a Futaba T7CP transmitter for £100 and a simulator (Reflex) for £120.

The Honey Bee, whilst really quite difficult to fly got me hooked. The sim and radio got me good enough to feel confident to take the next step - I had a lesson and I bought a Raptor 50. I still use the sim now and personally find it of great benefit if I want to try new things.

A lot of people on here don't like the micro helis and some are worse than others but I can honestly say that I would not be where I am now if I hadn't bought one.

Having said all that, I'm still a Newbie at this hobby and there are lots of people on here with far more experience than me

thanks got the areofly deluxe sim with controler been told its not the best but i saw it local and thought hey flight sim got out my 150 and paid the gent came home set it up and hey crash after crash but just about got it to hover and its worth every penny to me now
