  • CX3 Simulator

I've just bought a CX3 mode 1. I initially bought an Apache 4 channel but it came with Mode 2 which - as I found out - is not compatible with what I had flying gliders.

The controls on the CX3 are now fine but I'm still having difficulty, so my question is, what simulator will work best with the included TX (LPDSM5D)?

I must admit I was quite surprised at how flimsy the CX3 is. This really is an indoor-only heli. The body in particular is no stronger than the cartons that supermarkets sell tomatoes in. The Apache was tough as old boots. Bearing in mind that the Apache was £70 and the CX3 is £145 (both with delivery) and that the Apache is available on ebay for about £40 if you look around, this seems strange. Pity you can't get it in mode 1.

    Hi.............

The sim phoenix is great and works with that TX. The dongel plugs straight in to it.

I have a DX6I and the above TX which I use with the dongle.

Thanks for the reply. I emailed a model shop and they confirmed that it would work, so I bought the sim. The only trouble is it all seems a bit too easy - on the CX2/CX3 model anyway). Even getting a good height and dumping it doesn't result in any damage. I think it might be that my graphics card is too slow - everything slows down when you get near the ground.

I'm now considering a new graphics card. And at the same time I might as well get an LCD monitor. So the next question is: what's the best graphics card for this purpose. My PC's interface is only AGP 8X so I guess the newer PCI express wouldn't help (might not even work?). I'd also want it to have an HDMI output to get the best out of a new monitor. I can spend up to a £100. Any ideas?

        Hi...........

Not sure what power supply or cpu you have, but a good card for a 8x agp is the following:

        Play.com (UK) : Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3850 / 512MB DDR3 / AGP 8X / Graphics Card : Computing - Free Delivery

Of course find it as cheap as you can but this is a good agp card at a good price it is also dx10 and has HDMI ports it comes with a dvi adapter for older monitors.

PCI Express cards will not work with you mother board. Also you can change settings in the sim to things easy or hard.

If you can please list your cpu, memory and power supply.

That looks like the kind of thing, but it doesn't do native HDMI - only via an adaptor.

My PC is a Dell 8300 with 2.92Ghz cpu and 512Mb RAM. Don't know about the power supply for the graphics.

One problem I get with the Phoenix sim is that when I change model (to go to a glider, normally) if I then change back to the heli the program goes into extreme slow motion. In order to recover I have to reinstall it.
