  • Not getting enough thrust

From the tail rotor of my Twister 3D - having (at last) got to the hover and flying stage I've run out of right rudder - the swash on the tail rotor is butted up to the gear box once the 3D is trimmed for sort of staright flight so I don't have any right turn - Is the pitch on the tail rotor adjustable relative to the swash - I've checked that its square to the main shaft.

Incidentally thanks a million to all the experts out there (specially Ade) who take the time and trouble to get us newbies off the ground (and sometimes back there again ) safely.

your headspeed is probably too low. Its a pretty common problem with micros. You really need to get them humming to get those tiny tail blades working.

3D manual says head speeds "may approach 2000 rpm" so presumably it wouldn't recommend speeds above this

I found that they are happiest with a flat line throttle curve of 85%, so in normal mode you need the normal 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 and in idle up 1 you will need 85, 85, 85, 85, 85.

Bring the throttle up to half stick and then engage idle up 1, you can then fly the model from there. You will most likely find the head speed is approaching 2100rpm and it will really hum. It will also smooth out the tail and make the tail seem much more powerful.

              Cheers,
              Pete.
