I think they are differerent in my opinion..you can fly a plane in 20 mins basically..but to master will take you as long as helis

I found flying FW very easy, but I've been flying helis for a few years now and had some sim time with FW.

Now it's fine in the air, but I had trouble getting it down and landing haha.

im no pro yet, but i've also experienced flying a plane. im still starting with helis and i observed that it's easier to fly planes than helis.

Thanks for your replies guys, seems general concensus is that planes are easier. Having just flown some on a sim, i'd agree, found it an absolute breeze to take off and fly loops, rolls etc, but landing is a bit tricky, seem to float on forever.
The planes seem to fly how i would expect them to if that makes sense(!), the control inputs seem more natural to me, always have to concentrate so hard with the helis!
Was thinking of getting a flyingwings 'mini v', it can use my cx2 packs, but now may look at something bigger, with ailerons, that uses my 3s packs. hmmm, plenty to think about....

LOL, I remember that...and Kev's intake of breath as I cut the throttle in mid roll! I notice he hasn't asked me to fly it since and no-one else has volunteered either!

Are planes easier? No, they're just different in my opinion.

A few weeks ago, we got one of our heli-only club mates to have a go with a plane on a buddy-box out of curiosity. He (Brewber on here) had only ever flown helis before we did this. Sent the plane up and gave him control, and to be fair he flew it around the sky ok. He was clearly using the rudder as his primary turning input (i.e. not bank and yank) and everything looked great. Then someone shouted "do a roll!" So he banged the aileron over and in true heli stylie dropped the throttle to below mid stick through the inverted part of the manoeuvre.

Well we all fell about laughing! No harm was done to the model or the pilot's pride but it just goes to show - you need to switch your head between the 2 disciplines if you're going to play with both. This is exactly the reason why some heli flyers simply refuse to fly planes.

              Hi guys,
Well, i bought a little airplane at wings n wheels last week, a flyingwings mini v foamie thing. Been flying it this week, its such fun!!
Talk about easy to fly, i use my cx2 packs in it, and it will fly for 40 minutes on a pack! It is well underpowered, but will glide forever, thermal soar (kind of), and fly sooo slowly, you can almost hover it.
Only problem is, flying it has crucified my heli flying, just flew the mini titan and nearly binned it a few times, it feels really heavy and powerful now. Poxy fixed wing thing is a bad influence, hehehe!

Its a flyingwings mini v mate. Yep, 40 minutes flying per pack, maybe even a bit more, my packs were secondhand when i got them! But you couldnt do 3D with it, thats for sure! Its soooo underpowered, but relaxing to just mess around with.
