  • Trex T-rex 600 how much is this worth ?

Hi everybody, i am about to buy my first nitro heli. I am looking for a T-rex 500 or 600.
I've found this one and would like to know how much its worth rouglhy.
Can you guys please help me?
    Thanks.

    - T-REX 600 PRO SILVER CARBON FULLY BUILD
    - TAIL BELT DRIVE SYSTEM (it this system better for begginers ?)
    - YS 50 PUMP ENGINE JUST HAS SERVICE AND NEW REAR BEARING
    - 3 x JR-DS8231 ON SWASH
    - 1 x JR-DS8231 ON THORTTLE
    - CSM 720 GYRO (is this better than the GY401?)
    - JR 8700G TAIL SERVO
    - DURALITE 7.5 AMP REG 5.1V
    - LIPO 7.4 1900mAh
    - ALIGN PIPE
    - QUICK UK HEADER TANK
    - QUICK UK BLUE ALUMINIAM HEADER LOCK
    - NHP 600MM CARBON MAIN BLADE
    - NHP 95MM CARBON TAIL BLADE

It's always tricky to put a value on these things and I'm no expert. As such I'll let the others have a stab at it.

What I will say is that some jammy dude at my (ex) club picked up a 600NSP that was specced to the nuts. The engine had been started like once. It came with a whole raft of spares including a canopy, blades etc and he paid £475 for it!

However that was a lucky buy!

EDIT: You said in your post that you want to buy a nitro, and go on to mention the T-rex 500. The 500 is not a nitro heli.

looking at the list, this is NOT a 600n pro but a 600n sport. The pro has torque tube tail drive and black carbon frames. The sport is a fine heli but but don't go paying over the top for a pro when you are in fact getting a much cheaper sport.

It's a good spec 3D heli. Would you not be better buying something a bit more sedate if your going to put it in a fuselage. The CSM 720 is in a different league to the GY401.

How much is the owner wanting for it? It might be easier to gauge whether it's too expensive or not rather than give a value.

There's a commonly accepted way of doing though where you head onto one of the online shops, fill your basket with the list above and offer half the new value.

Hi Andy, he's asking £500 for it.
              thanks.

Might be better with a raptor or jp twister pantera for a scale body as they are cheaper.

hmm... i would say that £500 is a little over the top for the spec. £400 - £450 is more realistic

The Pantera is even cheaper at Galaxy models £99.99

                      T-REX 600 PRO
                      - T-REX 600 PRO SILVER CARBON FULLY BUILD

Usually the pro has black carbon frames. The silver frames are G10 glass fibre, less brittle and cheaper. Probably this heli is a sport and not a pro.
The sport comes with a plastic bendy canopy, the pro has a nice glass fibre one but folks buy them and put them on their sports.
If folks crasj a pro they might well buy the cheaper silver side frames to repair it - I probably would!

                      - TAIL BELT DRIVE SYSTEM (it this system better for beginners ?)

The belt drive tail is on the sport. The pro has a torque tube gear drive. The gear drive is more fragile and if you wack the tail on the gound it strips the gears. If you bend the boom then you bend the torque tube too - more expense. So yes the belt drive is better for a beginner.

                      - YS 50 PUMP ENGINE JUST HAS SERVICE AND NEW REAR BEARING
YS engines have a good rep, but are less popular than the OS. It might be fiddlier to set up.

                      - 3 x JR-DS8231 ON SWASH
Fine I've been running these on ccpm. Realraptors have spare gears for them so buy a few as the servos are an old design. Equivalent to a newer £30 servo.
                      - 1 x JR-DS8231 ON THORTTLE

                      - CSM 720 GYRO (is this better than the GY401?)
Excellent gyro and Uk made. easy to get fixed and serviced. Better than a 401 but only slightly more to buy new. You will never need to upgrade the gyro.

                      - JR 8700G TAIL SERVO
Should be OK. Rpughly like a 9254 but maybe more reliable.

                      - DURALITE 7.5 AMP REG 5.1V
                      - LIPO 7.4 1900mAh
for scale flying you don't really need a regulated system. The 1900 will last 4 flights. You will need a lipo charger to charge it.

                      - ALIGN PIPE
Good powerful pipe, louder than the hatori522 it is a copy of.

                      - QUICK UK HEADER TANK
                      - QUICK UK BLUE ALUMINIAM HEADER LOCK - not sure what this is - probably the header tank mounting.
                      - NHP 600MM CARBON MAIN BLADE - good
                      - NHP 95MM CARBON TAIL BLADE - good
-THIS HELI IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT NOT AS NEW - At least he is honest rather than saying "excellent condition never crashed".

The confusion with this description is he calls it a pro and then describes a sport. Actually in the shops now the NSP overshadowed the pro, so the pro is only £20 more than a sport.
The head on the sport is exactly the same as a pro. The tail on a sport has a plastic tail case rather than ther pro metal one. The pro might auto better due to its less drag torque tube drive but there is very little difference in the way the two fly.

450 is quite steep and the equipment is good, especially the gyro, but not the best, usually a heli like this will have a governor too (£30-40 extra). Offer him a bit less than 450.

I paid a little over 420 for raptor 50 with similar spec 2 years ago and it was an excellent buy. since then the align helis came along and most things got a little cheaper.

For a scale heli look into which bodies fit - you might find there are more avaiable to fit the raptor - and you might find more choice in used raptors. The 600n is cheaper to run than a raptor but more biased toward aerobatic performance.

if your putting it into a scale body go with a raptor 50
the trex requires too much maintenace on the crap align bearings

and yes its a sport but do remember that skyline did a pro kit with belt drive for those who didn't want a torque tube drive
