Is it too late to take it back and get a refund?

I'm afraid it's a bit banged up now. I fly it outdoors and it's had a few big crashes from quite a height. I've got a couple of acres of garden but I still manage to stray into the fields next door - the sheep don't seem to mind.

Anyway, thanks to this forum I now understand the problem so I reckon I'll see if the Futaba tranny will work with the right xtal. If so then it's problem solved - if not I reckon I'll invest in one of these new 2.4G RCs (it'll be an upgrade for the gliders too) and get a heli that allows you to fit your own gear.
