  • Transporting a Heli

How do u deal with transporting a heli (say a Knght50) when you are taking it flying
Do you use a case for it? take off the blades?
    hints appreciated

accross the backseat is good with a seat belt to stop it moving around. TX and tools in cases in the boots.

mine gets strapped on the rear seat by a seatbelt, with the metal carry case for my transmitter and other bits get sandwiched between the seat base and front seat back in the footwell. never had any problems with any of it moving about

        Er

On the footwell of a car leaning tail out towards the seat....

not ideal but MX5 car so basically not a lot of choice... unless i borrow
        the old mans 4wd truck.

My R50 just fits right across the the car (Saxo) behind the front seats with the flight box in the boot.
I put the passenger seat back until it holds the heli snugly in place. Blades are folded back into a caddy.

I always take the blades off to transport models, as I have had occaisions in the past where some of the links on the head have been strained to breaking point, normally due to heavy braking because some cretin pulled out in front of me

I currently use a little Suzuki van to carry my modelling gear around, but I have found in the last few months that it is no longer big enough to carry all the gear and models I need, so I am now looking for something bigger, transit sized.

I bought half a dozen 8' x 4' sheets of marine plywood some time ago, with the intention of building a shelf come racking system of some sort in the back of the van, but I never got round to doing anything with it. Now I am changing the van I will wait until I have got the new one and do something in the back of that with all this plywood I have.

              Cheers,
              Pete.

By the time I've got 3 helis across the back seat, there's no need for a seat belt as they're choc-a-bloc!

The Millenium has to go in first as it only fits diagonally - the others fit in around the remaining space quite nicely.

Planes, flight box etc all go in the boot.

Citoen Picasso is great, fold down one seat, and the Rap 30 fits straight in and is OK. all radio gear in a nice alluminium case, and everything else in the flight box. two seats down and take the Baron 30 as well

I have made a board so it sits on top of the folded down seats and the undercarriage rests in two channels so they do not jump about
