  • Phoenix with a DX6i

    Hello,

I'm new to this whole hobby after crashing my 3D Storm on its first outing and after a week and a half of rebuilding I bought the Phoenix Flight Sim to aid my learning and save me some money in the long run (crash wise). Back to the question I have set up my Spectrum DX6i with the Phoenix however the switches do not seem to want to work, in the calibration mode none of the move the meter. I have changed the D/R Combi mode to each setting in turn and nothing. I know that when flying small helis these are not needed however I fly do fly planes to relax my brain between sessions with the heli and the flaps/landing gear won't move when these switches are activated. My concearn is that the TX is faulty normally I wouldn't think this but this is my third DX6i in three months due to faults. I don't want to be flying my machine with a faulty TX.

Is it a fault or am i being a complete muppet and not doing something correctly?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Did you create a new model on your tx for Phoenix? If not do this and use the supplied dongle, without this it wont work.
If after this you have tried calibration and channel mapping then you may need the help of another Phoenix user as I fly G4.5.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help
    Nik.

    Before you ask:

    About 2 miles
    Over £500
    Very difficult
    Over 80mph
NO, you can't have a go

Not that I'm an authority on this as I also am a beginner. Ran into similer problems when I got my DX6i.

First off i set TX to Heli mode on a blank selection in model type. Then run the caliberation on the sim. Take note of the instructions as they do say not to flick switches such as idle up and throttle hold.

Once you have gone through the setup it may be neccesery to reverse some channels on the sim to ensure pitch and throttle throw is correct to the movements of the sticks. This is done through System, Your controlls, Edit.

I just plug the sim lead directly into the TX and seems to work fine for me, however I cant comment on the plank switches like gear etc as I only use Heli's on the whole.

Once all is set up I D/C TX then name that model type as SIM on the DX6i and switch off to save settings.

Im sure someone will be along with more detailed instructions just this has worked for me and hope it helps

      Cheers

        Thanks for the replies,

I have set a new profile and followed all the instructions on screen to set it up but still no joy, i've repeated calibration and even gone onto the advanced so still have the same problem. When I have done the advanced caliration I have found that sometimes the stick settings don't always match when ypou do them the second time and I have had to start over. Is this a Phoenix trait, my TX or me?

Ditto. I can get the gear switches to work if I set a plank model up tho.

I must confess I've not played much with the switches on my DX6i - perhaps I'll have a play tonight and report my findings later.

If you could take a look it would be much appreciated. Getting rather fustrated with it and don't want to fly the twister until I know all is well.

              Thanks
