Decided it would be best to get some lessons. Anyone know who would be prepared to teach a young (ish) padoan? I am near Heathrow Airport and prepared to travel.

see the ade is great brigade are out again.........
Have you looked at local club's rather than spending more money on paying someone to teach you.......-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.
A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly
And a DX8 too

Ouch
, Looks like it could get expensive. Are there no clubs locally to you you could join and recive flight training there? Most seem happy to teach learners, well, round here anyway.
A quick look on BMFA website shows Hanworth air park large membership and they do heli's. http://www.hamfc.co.uk/ They look pretty close to heathrow (5 miles ish). Might be worth asking.

A friend joined a club that offered training and advise..and he cot some advise but training was only on available when the trainer was about and free to help...The problem is that you have a new member wanting to get in the air but ending up hanging around being grounded or left to there own devices.
At least with lessons you get them when you want and the undivided attention of a tutor. Agreed not cheap but a good way of getting the basics down.
Just my opinion.-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Can be true, we are lucky with our club, we have quite a few people who are prepared and experienced enough to test fly adjust and tutor us newbies. It also means its not down to 1 person to train everyone which has gotta be good. We just fit in around their flying, it works really well. there is always someone there to help us use up a tank or two.Originally posted by bandicootA friend joined a club that offered training and advise..and he cot some advise but training was only on available when the trainer was about and free to help...The problem is that you have a new member wanting to get in the air but ending up hanging around being grounded or left to there own devices.

I still say email the club and ask them what form and how the training works.
As pointed out though if youre paying for lessons its upto you when and for how long you go for. Thats worth a bit. I agree that a more structured approach in the early stages would be good which you may not get at a club
Wow U-turn

Hamworth seemed to be a pretty good club. It was busy though the day I went down. good in some ways, bad in others. I felt they were a little restricted on the flying times but that's what you get living in London. I just haven't had a chance to go again and join. I was invited to fly there and then as a guest and they would happily have looked over the model.
Once again why are there not more days in the year, hours in the day etc.

Thanks for all the feedback. Hanworth is an outdoor club IIRC. Hanworth is right near me but did not know they did indoor as well. I agree wholeheartedly that a more structured approach would be very beneficial in the early stages. And also for someone to look over the model. I have a friend who has already gone through 3 blades whilst learning.
