  • Bottle Gone !!

I s this just me or has anyone else suffered ? Perhaps Heli,s are not for me ? I have had some bad luck lately, put my heli in for the first time, not expensive, usual bits and i thought thats got that out of the way, ordred bits and got on with it ! Got it set up at club and test flown, flew it myself (hover) advised to take off Training gear and much better. Then plagued by tail servo/gyro problems finally sorted that with 401/9524 combo, brill! So have not flown it or been on sim for about two weeks (house sitting for a pal) so wind finally died down this evening, time for some hovering. Lost my bottle, could not bring myself to lift off, just felt wrong/unsure/impending doom ??? Cant really explain it, having serious second thoughts?? Richard

I gurantee that you will spool up , feel a bit nervous, talk yourself in to pushing that collective stick, it will climb in to a hover and you will find you love it again, put the training gear back on for the added comfort too

I was exactly the same the other week, new heli, never flown and was losing bodily functions, but persevered and now feel a lot more comfortable, but my bottle has gone at the mo moving it about too much lol!!! but I know by keeping at it it'll come back.
I used to fling my sceadu about loads but after over a year of not flying it, i dusted it off and flew it a bit, but servo went kaput and killed the heli so it really knocked me back with the new one, BUT im going right back to the basics and relearning the simple stuff and not jumping to fast like i did before with the sceadu.

Just take a deep breath and go for it, as i almost filled my pants when it spooled, but paused, slapped myself about and telling myself not to be a big girls blouse and then hovered it (tentertively)

Dont give up, you'll get there, maybe if its because its the first flight after the crash, see if anyone can go over it for you to make sure everythings ok, and if poss let them do the initial hover to show you it'll fly.

          ok i'll stop waffling now

Richard.....I dont think your the only one who feels like this.

To put your beloved heli in the air when your not in the right frame of mind is asking for trouble....and what I'm talking about is off days and I get them. Whether it's stress from work or some pratt's just cut you up in your car......you ultimately need to be chilled to fly, well me anyway!

You will get back in the air and you'll undoubtedly crash again but that's the crux of the hobby......and like you say if it does'nt feel right dont do it, the right time will come and you'll be back on your feet again.....lovin it!!!

you did the right thing and stopped! It will fly another day.
              Abuse the sim some more.
Other week ask 3dbasher to take my tx it just didn't feel right. He flew it and called me something i'll not print...and thats the first time i've ever ask him to take tx. Was different flying site, strange people LOL (in a nice way) different sky i don't know but hey had a good day in the end.

He certainly isn't, I've been through it, still a bit shakey now and haven't repaired my heli from my last mishap yet.

I will, eventually though and once I get back airborne again it'll be the long slow climb back into the saddle, but don't give it up mate.

                      Good advice above ......

I to have had back to back crashes but always built it again and flew it when it felt right ............the feeling right being the important part .....

What I find interesting is that I to hav days when I just don't feel right ...................to mny crashes flying through this feeling have taught me to land and pack up for the day....

Stick with it and fly when your ready................the sim can teach many things ...............but it doesn't grow the nuts .......

let us know when your back up M8

Most of us have been through this at some point.

I flew planks for years before I got a heli, got pretty good, pretty quickly with them and had loads of confidence right from the start.
Heli's were different though, got to the point that I could hover pretty quickly, but was never all that confident, took me ages to progress from basic hovering, not that I couldn't do it, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
Had to really push myself, had some good help aswell

The first winter that I was flying heli's i struggled again as I wouldn't fly for a few weeks due to weather and the nerves would be back.

You just have to keep at it, and the confidence comes, and rather than being hesitant, you can't wait to get back in the air.
Having a crash doesn't affect you so badly either.

You'll look back at this in a year when someone else is having the same problem and think, god, I was there once, never thought I would be where I am now.

I get put off after not flying for a week or more. It can take a few flights (or more) before I am even approaching the level I was flying at before. You have to make the effort though. It will come.

i think we have all been there but if you can get someone to Buddie up with you for the first few flights it will help build up that confidence you might find that after a few minutes it will feel as if youv'e worried over nothing so get back out there and fly.

Hah! I know the lack of bottle syndrome lol. Binned the 500 twice on the trot and now I fly like a girl lol. Still I need to get a grip and go fly her again and try not to worry about binning it again. Its not the money but the lack of time to do the repairs that bothers me lol.
