If you are talking about the micro heli, I would say they are quite hard to control for a newbie, I am still one and took a few goes before I got the hang of it, but I like them because I find it better myself to practise on one of these than in a rc heli sim.
The guys at Buzzflyer dont as far as I know do the later version yet of there clone, shame as there service I have always found perfect.
If you are going to get one, make sure you get the WALKERA 4#3B V2 Brushless version, as the earlier ones use a brushed main motor and it wears out after a only few flights and is totally frustrating to keep having to order new motors all the, so pay the it extra and get the lastest version which I think also is a bit more stable.
You can fly them indoors once you have mastered one, but at first you will crash into everything. lol So you need a big room , hall or fly out in back yard if there is a totally calm day, and also a softer landing I find crashing into grass ;-) They also do mini training kits for these tiny things.

Not the best heli for a newcommer to learn on, it will be difficult and frustrating and if you are not careful will put you off the hobby.

would have to agree, not the easiest heli for a beginer, great fun if your hovering is at a fairly good standard.

Outdoors only on a still day, indoors nowhere near the cat

There are things you can do to calm them down bit like weights on the flybar etc, I know Lee Made2fade modded his and got it flying quite nicely.
        All the best

I learnt to fly using a buzzfly.
They are tricky to fly and also quite difficult to setup. Its easy to have a small part out of alignment or slightly bent and it has a big effect.

If you have lots of patience they are a good heli to learn on.
Apart from the tail boom they are very strong and you can crash alot of times without damaging anything. Also anything you do break is very cheap to replace.

The worst thing about them is that they are very hard to hold in a hover and drift around alot. If you cant get the hang of it you will crash very quickly and it will get frustrating. Once you can keep it in the air for a few seconds they are a great way to learn how to fly.
When I bought my first big heli I jumped straight into it and found that all the skills I learnt with the 4#3B transfered over.

As far as outside flight you need a VERY still day, the slightest wind upsets them and you just cant control the heli at all. I have tried mine outside a couple of times but its not been much fun.

I dont think there is any "easy" way to learn to fly a heli.

I dont understand how you can fly in those winds?

Is your heli modded at all?

Mine is appauling in the wind, but its fantastic inside.

I just managed a 20 second hands off hover on the collective, just flying on throttle and rudder
Mine is setup very nicely inside but its a pig outside.

mmm, just thought i would try and get a rough idea as getting bored of the sim and my 450 is out of order for use of a better word and not sure if i can be bothered spending out on it or not as its only an XL with very basic parts(never even got it in the air).

I was hoping you could tell me what you did

I run mine with the servo links on the outer hole, to get a bit more swash movement.

I also have the bits to do the bell hiller mixing mod, but I found it made the heli less stable and I prefer the way it flys as stock (indoors at least)

If you can fly on the sim Paul then I think you stand a decent chance of flying the 4#3B
Once you are past the difficult stage of getting it into the air and hovering then you will be ok.

I might be at the coventry connections indoor flyin in a couple of weeks.
If you can make it then you can have a go on my 4#3B, although I think you will need BMFA insurance to fly.

I have a Buzz Fly 2.4SE model, and managed to trash it today...big style. Apparently its quite difficult to do this? Have just ordered a new frame, skids, tail boom and tail blades... so fingers crossed!!!

Its twitchy as hell, but I am a newbie to the sport as well to be honest, so I am just enjoying throwing it around at the moment. Spares are relatively cheap, and once you can hover the thing, it doesn't half give you a 'Buzz'... no pun intended..

                          Enjoy...

Totally agree with the above, there great for an already accomplish Heli pilot, but frustrating as arse holes for a complete beginner.

Larger is more stable, but you have to budget yourself to what you can comfortably afford with crash damage costs etc.

Best thing would be pop along to a local club and get an idea whats out there with one to one advise.

Main prob with the 4#3's is the booms snap fairly easily, or the tension screw that holds it in place rips the inner plastic thread.

A same sized solid carbon rod with the lead tapped to the outside with a blob of silicon to hold it in place within the main frame is a great upgrade for the models that don't have solid carbon booms.

If poss' try and get the Blade 400 & Phoenix, it may take longer to save the dosh, but it'll put you on a safer and far more pleasurable road to start off on.
