Progress!

Finally gave nose-in a good crack last night. was flying for about an hour practicing side on both ways, moving it around the field side on, landing and taking off side on, and all was good. so i thought it was time to give it a go. Managed to hold numerous steady hovers nose in, and was generally really please with myself! feeling much more confident now had a minor ding at the end where i paniced a bit and grounded it (killing a set of blades and a set of servo gears) but im not bothered! im making good progress, and well happy about it, just thought id share it with you all

Well, a week and a bit on, and Stef (wang_uk) and I went out and braved the wind. it was quite gusty, and i guess around 20mph wind. we found a relatively sheltered part of one of the fields we use, which was sheltered on 2 sides by trees around 60foot high. we both tentativley took flight, and to my surprise it wasnt too bad at all. it obviously got a lot windier once you climbed above around 30 foot, but nothing that wasnt uncontrolable.

I ran 5 tanks of fuel through, and progressed really well. I found that i have a weak spot on flying with the muffler side side-on to me, so made a real effort to work on this, and it paid off well. I flew lots of circuits keeping it quite low and pretty close in to me so that when i was flying back in towards myself i was getting more and more nose in. I also had a few brief nose-in hovers, but it was just too windy to try and spend too much time on these.

Ive also invested in a set of 3 3152 digital servo's, which has improved the resonse no end. makes it much easier to hold in a smooth hover, and movements seem to be much smaller and more precise. the one down side is that I drained my 2400 sub-c size pack in 4 tanks, to the point it was just starting to flash in to the red on my checker when under load. i threw my aa-size 2000ma on that was fully charged to use one more tank, and it lasted about 3/4 of a tank before i started to get a bit of tail twitch, so im going to have to get either a bigger 2nd sub-c, or another 2400, but that can wait til next week now having just spent £75 of servo's.

really enjoying it now. i was a little down-heartened a couple of weeks ago, following a couple of silly crashes, but now im really happy with it. making good progress on every flight.
