  • Loops!!

    Hi All
Did my first loop today - then did another two
Had a real mental block at first. Just could not get past stall turn height. I bottled out quite a few times and kind of had an argument with myself (Bizzare, but that's what it felt like ) as I do loops all the time on the sim.
Second flight of the day and the wind was almost perfect - straight down the strip but quite strong. Just went for a stall turn and carried on going. It felt great and I don't know why I haven't done it before! On the third one I added a little more negative and paused briefly at the top as well. How mad is that!
The strange thing is that I felt happier about doing loop number two than I did attempting my second stall turn.
It's gone from pants weather day and thinking I'm not going to fly at all to a fantastic day.
Hope you all had a great weekend too.
    Regards
    A very happy
    Cheers, Lee.

Thanks Ade and Jimbob and Disc.
I can't really believe it myself. I had a look at the photo I took of the Raptor when I bought it. It's dated 31st May 06. I can't believe I have gone from hovering, to A test, to stall turns and now loops in that time.
It's definitely time for some 3152s and a couple of beers to celebrate
          What a feeling!
          Cheers, Lee.

            Well done Leebert

Its really gratifying when you can come away from the field having achieved something like that, and even better if you are bringing the model away in one piece too, so very well done on both counts

            Cheers,
            Pete.

well done! ive had my raptor 30 for about 3 weeks now and flew the hummingbird (badly) for about 3 or 4 weeks previous to that. ive just spent all weekend flying the raptor and getting ready to do nose-in. been hovering it side on in both directions with the wind hitting the side. was quite a challenge for me, but im pleased to say that ive come away with it still in one piece should be having a go at full on nose-in in a few weeks

                Thanks Pete & Jamie.

Jamie - sounds like your well on the way. It's great to share our achievements and learning curves on here. It gives me confidence to try new things when I read about other people having a good day of flying.

I just finished fitting three new 3152s to the collective and cyclic on the Raptor 50. I had a new 3010 only a short while ago so that's gone on the throttle.
It's all on charge now and hopefully tomorrow will be sunny and I can trim / set it up and go for a test flight.
                Can't wait
                Cheers, Lee.

                    Leebert,

Just don't do what I did.. goto Loop and started at 6ft high.. I thought I was
higher. Long grass caught it and lucky for me it did....

                    Doh!

                        Well it was bad enough

If I had been over the main strip a LOT worse the long grass saved it.
Just dings the ego thats all, It's fixed and was me swearing a lot.

Although it was last flight of the day 6 good flights then last one
