  • New to Forum.. need advice please..

hi every one im new to the forum!

Im from hertfordshire and I got a lil E-sky Honey Bee Series (not the Cp2)

Ive been a fan of Rc helicopters for time! and thought it was time to learn the hobby! so i bought myself the Honey Bee and do regret it...

The little thing is so hard to control and manage to get it about 5 ft in the air and it barely keeps steady... im finding it really tricky.. i have improved tho and i actually just bought myself a Blade CX which aparently is the best Lil electric Helicopter to beggin on because its multi Bladed so u dont need to focus that much... i did crash it the other day on my 5th succesfull flight but i hit the top blade (they are made like poo) and jus snap sooo easily...

The honey bee has given me greaf.. 1 of the little plastic bareings that hold the Blade has chiped of due to me crashing it in to a tree on my 1st day of receiving it...

im now kinda stuck on what to do... i love rc helicopters and i wanna keep going at it.. im also confused on what to do.. have only like 100 pounds atm to spend on this hobby... its soo addictive... I dno if i wanna go petrol because i hate the noise being so loud... i like helicopters which actually sound like real ones not that annoying buzzzing high pitch noise... where as my honey bee does sound pretty cool... just wish the chopping noise was louder hehe! love that sound!

Anyway i think ill shh now! but any advice on what i should do or what rc clubs i should take a look or learn at.. (the honey bee comes with a controller which aparently hooks up to most sims.. none of them work... and people have been having problems connecting it to...need to buy a serial port to usb adapter so that way i can get my controller to work with it...

    Cheers guy! and hello

with almost all sims you need to use their cable plugged into your transmitter. Your tx should work with them. You just need the right connector.

the problem you have is that small helis due to the laws of physics fly like poo when compared to their larger brothers. But to get a larger heli to fly nice is going to cost you a lot more than 100ukp.

with the money you have available your best bet is probably going to be a simulator such as www.phoenix-sim.com

          Thanks for reply!

hi and thanks for gettin back to me ade! my Tx came with a cable which connects to the joystick port of the computer... but the computer didnt recognise it.. so i installed ppjoy (which is wat i was advised to do form another forum) but no luck so far.. i was told to get a serial port converter to usb.. hopefully it should recognise it that way!?

i have seen some impressive stuff with the honey bee Cp2 on the net check this guy out:

          [ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=hifiWWlyhgs[/ame]

i mean this guy manages to hover it dead steady.. hes good hey!?

the thing is my honey bee is Fp and hes got the cp2.. i think there is a big difference in flight not sure tho.. i should be receiveing my G3 Simulator soon!

any recommendations on what good big begginer helicopter to go 4? thanks

30 Size is where most begineers start and is the normal for most clubs.

Raptors,Shuttle's,Hawk Pro etc are all in this size.

I would surgest you find a local Club see what they fly and then you will
have an idea what to go for.

Club list can be found here:

I started with a Bell Twister47 helps to give you orientation, only good fo indoors though. Then bought a Twister 3D, great fun, but so much more dificult than the Raptor 30 I have, My advice for what its worth, get a sim, practise, save like hell and go stright to a 30 size, they are more stable

Wish id seen this advise before i brought my twister 3d dont get me wrong its a nice heli but so many people say the raptor 30 would have been a better choice and what with buying 3 battery packs it could of worked out the same for a decent 2nd hand raptor
the twister seems to be affected by the wind realy easily even as a plane pilot what id consider a gentle breeze seems to pick it up and move it around
