  • Not Enough Power? Help please!

    Hello everyone!

I'm farely new to this hobby, and purchased a Century Hummingbird V4. Any batteries that I connect to it seem to provide very little power. I use Li-Po batteries, and charge to them fully. Any ideas why? I'm farely sure that there is nothing wrong with the charger!

Can you upload a video showing the issue you are facing? It could help, I think.

Well I'm running it with 2 cell Lipos. I seem to have the same problem when running it with the NiCads that came with it

Well a 2 cell Lipo fully charged will be 8.4volts and the Nicads that came with it are 9.6. So think this must be the problem, I have no experience of this heli, or any other fixed pitch so don't know if it would handle a 3cell LiPo. Hope someone else might be able to offer more advise than me??

Sorry just looked again on the site and the nicads are 8.4, the 9.6 was an upgade. So it should fly??

Is the speed control setup correctly?

Throttle trim all the way down when you turn on the heli?

Check the battery voltage to make sure its around 8v, if its not then the battery isnt fully charged.

It might also be a problem with the motor, does it spin fairly freely, does it get hot when you try and fly?

Gear mesh too tight? Motor on last legs?

Looks very simalar to a twister fixed pitch, i used to run mine on 11.1v 3 cell 1000mah li-pos, i do know that when the motors begin to die a distinct lac of power is one symptom,

is this a new heli or have you baught it secound hand?
