  • entering inverted hovering.

after my attempts at inverted hovering which ended in a crash I was wondering if I was entering it wrong. I was going abouts it by flipping the heli from left to right or right to left. im thinking now if this is making the maneuver unstable. should I be flipping it from tail to nose or nose to tail?

I found inverted alot harder compared to the sim

I learnt by doing the following. Fly so the heli is tail towards you, infront of you and at a good height. Both sticks forward to put the heli into a forward flip. Once i had mastered the full forward flip, it was a case of reducing the amount of cyclic as it goes inverted and increasing the negative so the heli will sit inverted.

The first few attempts only lasted a few seconds before bailing out of it. As you practice more, the you will be able to hold it inverted longer and longer.

As you start to hold it inverted longer, start moving the sticks so you can counter any sideways/tail movement.

practice, practice, practice on the sim will make it much easier in the long run!

ok many thanks, on pheonix I found it ok and can fly forward and backwards inverted with no hicups.

Im going to try it that way then, whats the worst that can happen eh?

              I learnt similar to aidi.

hover at a good height tail in but then I did a backflip,. first all the way over and back to the starting position, when I was comfy with that I did half a flip help it for a second or so before completing the flip. then as I got more used to it, I just held the inverted bit longer and longer, if I got into trouble it was in a position for an easy flip back to the tail in position. and hopefully safety

+ 1 for Aidi and sesame. Put in lots of practice with the sim as well. You can do it.

Ditto. I started by doing half a loop, flying along inverted briefly, then either completing the loop, or applying collective and doing another half a loop upwards.

I then started slowing down in the inverted section until I was at a hover. I find a flip is really quite a hard manoeuvre to pull off well, and you want to pull it off well to be in a position to hover inverted after it.

And now I haven't practised sufficiently, I've got to learn it all over again!

cupracing.. When I started, I did the same as you.. Tail in and then just flip it over so inverted I was also tail in. I found it the simplest for me.

..Of course there was a lot of sim practice, and I could hover steady in inverted tail in, and small circuits on the sim before I attempted my first flipm and inverted hovering.

Yeah Ive alwys found myself 2-3 steps behind at the field to what I can do on the sim.

but a good solid inverted hover on the sim will mean youve got the directions sorted.

also I dont know what stage your flyings at but a really good knowledge of all upright orientations before getting to grips with inverted will save you alot of greif later on.

Ditto for me too. I have learnt to do inverted by hovering tail in and rolling to the right, still being tail in.
