  • Flying lessons in Berkshire

    Hi,

I've just joined the forums as I bought my first helicopter today after wanting one for years. I've got a Raptor 30 and am keen to learn to fly as soon as possible. I've had a go at hovering and been rather unsuccessful. I need to get it setup and hopefully have some lessons on flying it. Does anyone know of anywhere in the Newbury area where I can get it setup and get some flying lessons?

    Thanks

Thanks, I've just emailed them. They're not too far from here.

Another thing I was thinking about was getting a simulator for the computer. I have a Sanwa RD6000 radio. Is there a simulator I can hook that up to and learn with the actual controller?

      Thanks.

The RD8000 is listed in the phoenix transmitter list, so I think th 6000 will probably work as well.

One of the above replies suggested Paul Heckles. I can second this - had some lessons with his school, actually taught by his colleague Andrew and these were excellent. Money well spent.

              Good luck

Well I found Phoenix and an adapter for the Sanwa radio on eBay so I'll take a chance and hope it works with my radio!

I will definitely be taking some lessons with Paul Heckles, thanks for the recommendation.

Astronobaldo, where do you fly? I have been attempting to get it off the ground in my garden and I actually managed to get it up in the air and hovering yesterday but it needed constant adjustment to stay in one place so I assume it needs setting up or is this normal?

Hi Danc, I used to flight in a park in Lower Earley but now with the weather getting better is getting crowded (not safe). I have now joined the RDMAC club (http://www.rdmac.org.uk) which flies on the Thames Valley park. I'll be there tomorrow for my first flight on the club

Hi, I'm still at the hovering around stage myself and I live in Newbury. I've done most of my flying on Hewick field, when it's not been too windy. There's a rugby pitch tucked in the far corner next to the astro hockey pitch and apart from the posts, it's quite open and flat.

I won't be able to offer much help on the set up or flying side of things but if you want to meet up at all give me a shout.

                        Cheers
