Ooooops Tail servo ?

Had a little ooops this morning (up early) thought i might do a tank before work (hovering on training gear) all was very well, best yet, but due to a gust of wind and being too busy congratulating myself i made a quite hard landing (that will teach me). So back up put in a little left rudder, would not stop going left so brought her down (better landing even with her turning). Checking over i find the tail servo JR DS820G (not the fastest i know but i am only hovering) is "Kaput". Are they really that sensitive or is it just co-incidence?? Richard

Why not try plugging the servo directly into the Rx to see if it's the gyro or servo. Don't fly it..only on the bench.

Hi., I tried another servo, just a standard one and it worked fine and gyro was also working so i,m pretty sure its just the servo. I was just surprised that just a hardish landing would do it, are they that sensitive ? well i suppose they are ! Richard

I wouldn't put it down to the hard landing but you never know for sure,servo's are pretty tough little things.I've had some hard landings in the past and the electronics seem to hold up well.It could of been on it's way out and the landing just helped it along.

It has only done12 tanks (newly built rappy30v2) running in and hovering ? Richard

How much gain are you using?To much will fry the servo,I found this out with a 9254!

Returned to my LMS and fitted another 820g tail servo. Not happy as the servo seemed to be getting warm and them noticed voltspy flickering. Turns out the battery was u/s , unusual but seemed to be shorting! New battery in and everything pre-flight seems good, as soon as the rain stops and wind drops we will see ! LMS have been brill ! and thanks to all here! Richard
