Took my Beam to a local deserted park tonight.
First time I've tried flying in an open space.
Attempted to do circuits but almost lost it, started heading for the ground rather quickly and thanks to Phoenix practice kicking in was able to save it.
Almost sh_t myself at the time, brain started thinking about bent and destroyed parts!!!!
Stuck with hovering after that and very slow passes to calm the nerves.
It's amazing how the thought of a piece of precision and lots of cash smashing to peices gives you the shacks!!!!
I am amazed how quickly you start to loose the orientation of the heli, at relitively short distances, something Phoenix can't train you for.
I think I will concentrate on the basics and slow controlled passes, forget what I can do in Phoenix for a while.

I usually only try things out on the last flight of the day , if it goes in it was going to be the last flight of the day anyway. If you get too carried away on the first flight and bin you've spoilt your whole day. Glad you managed to save it though, rather than going home with that nasty ball in the pit of your stomach that comes when you trudge over and pick up the remains of your pride and joy.
