After a Beautiful day at work I've been gagging to get out and fly.
Decided to be brave and take to the wide open spaces of the local rec' ground. No longer satisfied to just hover outside in the road or by the garages, which is where I have been practicing so far, took out 3 packs and jumped in the car.
Arrived and to my pleasant suprise very few people were there so off I strolled to the middle of the quietest part of the playing fields. Had a good look around, no one
. First pack just hovered between head hight and about 10 foot as the wind had me feeling a little nervous. Set her down to change batts and let it cool down, or maybe it was me to cool down lol. A few minutes later after A ciggy and calming down a little I was ready to go again, Spun her up got into a hover of about 6 foot and decided to piro it a couple of times, great! Ok knees a shaking got into a side on hover, dipped the nose, n bugger me it was quick :O. First couple of mins was just curcleing around myself then bought it back into land infront of me.
Now I decided to imagine I was on a flight line and it musnt go behind me, up she went, a few turns and poor attempts at stall turns later just suddenly seemed to lose it. Was like all control was momentarily lost, nothing worked throttle, rudder, cyclic nothing. About 5 foot from the ground seemed to pick up again but was already to late as was heading in n fast, all I could do is watch as it failed to level out in time n then that noise we all know. Head hung low mope'd off to see what damage there was. The pic is how I found the mini pred.
First noticed the tips on the main blades had a small chip off of one and both missing the covering material just on the tip edges. Disconnected batt n left it to one side to make sure it was ok whilest I inspected the rest of the heli. To my amazement nothing was broke or even bent, plugged in batt number 3 and spooled up to check main shaft, fine
Now I know I shouldnt but just had to. Gentley increased throttle to get into a hover to see how it was. To my astonishment was solid, nose left stick forward and off I went again. Same kind of pattern as before some turns and poor attempts at kinda stall turns. This went on for just over 5 minutes before I finally decided to land her. My god!!! 1 I was bloody lucky to escape with very little damage and 2 how I am itching for more, buzzing my pants off still
Sorry this has been a little drawn out, just wanted to share my first forward flight experience with you all and especially to everyone who has helped me so far
