  • Brackets, screws and clamps - where from?

    Hi
when I look around ar things on here - it appears that you can obtain nice little brakets, clamps screws etc that you can use to make projects or addons etc rather than just bodging up stuff in my garage.

Is there a good suppliers/s or somewhere you can get a catalogue of useful accessories etc?

    thanks
    Rick

      Hi
general RC model type stuff. I've seen all sorts form gimbals to addons to chassis on helis etc etc and they appear to have purpose built little bracets and so on.

I ge the impression that there must be a catlogue of parts that you can get to put together custom build projects and adaptations.

Sorry if I'm not very clear here.

      thanks

      Rick

Thought this may help - see the servo brackets, camera plate, cornere pieces, hinge points etc - there must be a place that supplies this kind of stuff?

        thanks

Hi Rick. Camera mounts are often custom designed and come in various versions/sizes and complexity.

Fixed, Rotationial, Tilt and Pan, Gyro stablised, demountable. Video down links etc etc.

There are several manufacturers. Most of this stuff can be found on RR here

The adverts cycle on the front page if your looking for ideas.
heres one company foe example http://photoshipone.com/products.php

Meant to add, The servos are sometimes Sail winch servos..

            cheers Brian

              Thanks Brian.
I think the shot may have mislead as I'm not looking for gimbal info - just for general brackets etc that are used for that type of ad hoc construction.

That said - very useful links - thank you

It depends on what your trying to build or mount but if you need to mount something onto your boom then tail servo brackets will be handy.

If you need to fix something to the frame then you might be able to make something out of some other heli frame parts.

I think most of the custom looking parts you have seen in other pictures are parts borrowed from other helicopters or cars that fitted the required job.

The best way to find bits like this will be to go to your local heli shop and see what bits they have on the walls that look like they might work.

                  ok cool
thanks. I am having trouble finding that dream heli shop in Cornwall - which is probably just as well on my bank balance! I was hoping that there might be like a maplins catalogue (damn - didn'tt hink of that until I wrote this) where you can flip through and see clamps brakets etc.

it makes perfect sense that they use bits and bobs from other helis though (feeling really dim now) and I will have a good snifter this weekend to try and find my nearest shop.

                  thanks again.

Have a look at companies like Skiffy and Component Force - lots of useful plastic and metal parts for some jobs.

i never throw away old electricals/ video recorders/walkmans/ camera's/ etc till ive nicked all the little screws and bits from inside. then if i can i make them look complete and take them to the local tip and giggle my childish little head off when those grabbing barstewards up there rub their hands and grab em before they go in the skip
