  • Still Shaking!!

    I just had to share!

Been waiting for 9 days now for a decent day to get the T-Rex in the air.. The anticipation was killing me, but at the same time i didn't want to as i was scared of breaking it and scared of it's awesome power (remember the Twister used to scare the life out of me!)..

So an absolutely beautiful day i wake up to and can't wait to get to the flying field..

First, Twister.. Let's get a few batteries in to exercise my thumbs then get to the beast..

However, it wasn't meant to be.. problem after problem.. on take off, there was something not right, but it seemed ok afetr i checked it, carried on with it but had to land it harshly to save it..

The belt slipped.. so tighten it and it's too tight for the blades to rotate freely.. could never get the balance right.. then the gearbox was loose.. fixed it but the belt slips again.. so i gave up and decided to leave it and take it apart when i get home to pinpoint the problem..

That left me with no choice but to fly the Rex.. (was trying to delay it as much as i can ).. So TG on.. Fill it up.. Start it and walk to the heli patch (nervous wreck!)..

Spun it up then down twice as i didn't have the guts to take it up.. Then thought sod it! And up it went.. And oh my!.. It was absolutely magnificent!!

This bird is just majestic, it hovered there so beautifully and it responded to the controls in such a collected way.. I'm in Love!! It's absolutely beautiful!! (well the misus will understand i hope!)

Had to set it down 2 or 3 times during the process to collect myself.. My legs were shaking and my adrenaline levels were sky high!

So first tank through hovering and every time it gets away i bring it back and it just obeys..

Shut it down and back to the car i go.. to calm down that is and spend the next hour enjoying the sunshine with a massive smile on my face... I understand now what everyone was talking about..

Then another tank and the control gets better (however the shaking leg was still in action).. What an absolutely great feeling, I know what i want to fly day in day out now!!

That awesome heli!! I love it!! I love it!! I love it!!

              hi mo
Glad you got the 600n in the air.
Glad to know everything is still in one piece.
However you will find in future its the THIRD and FOURTH flight where you learn most - so you are going to have to overcome those nerves a bit! After a few flight though you start to go off a bit - mental tiredness. The number of flights before your skills start to go off increases the more you fly.

My goodness it was SO cold today at 4000 feet!

And Tim i have never really written up an experience in the way i do now.. I think this hobby is bringing out some skills i never knew existed For example, i never had a tool box neither did i have the mindset to mod things.. Now it seems seeing everyday things trigger "hmm i could use that to sort that problem out" all related to heli's though

Novel.. maybe not but a blog perhaps

If every step in my progress is going to feel like it has been since i started this hobby then i'm hooked for life me thinks lol!!

Well done Mojo. They do look awesome in the air.

The once you get used to it, nerves will settle a little until you start trying out new moves. Then the shakes come back lol.

Enjoy your new 600. You will have much fun with it.
