  • Blade Tracking - Caused by what?

    Hi all,

I just finished another repair/set up on my Blade 400 (after a terrible crash . After a quick flight to check everything I noticed that this time the blades happened to be tracking ok. Last time I configured everything exactly the same way but the tracking needed some adjustments. Both cases I had the blades balanced and CG checked.

So,is the tracking issue caused by the blades itself (Meaning that I might need to adjust the tracking if I just change the blades) or is it caused by something else?

    Thanks!

Can be blades , dampners as well on the blade ... I had one where it was ok at certain headspeeds and as soon as u went idle up it went it .. Turned out to be blades and dampners ... Carbon blades are cheap enough now

Or try Align 325 Pro blades. Excellent value for money.

No two sets of blades will ever track the same IMO that's why it's part of the set up once fitting new bits.

When I checked my 500 it was fine on about 50 to 60% throttle so I flew it on that but then noticed there was a good 1/4" between them whilst flying on idle up at 90% throttle. So I re-checked them at 90% throttle with a few degrees of pitch (not enough to lift off but enough to get some lift generated) and then reset the tracking like that. Haven't managed to fly yet but should be OK now or at least alot better than it was.

It might be the dampers giving in at a higher load? Poor tracking is, in my limited experience, due to either the mechanical alignment being out, dampers, blades not balanced or feathering shaft slightly bent.
