Hello All,
So been having two great days.. Ups and downs (well literally
).. Started with a warm up on Thu.. Only one battery but in quite windy conditions, pretty good control of the heli, still not hovering for more than 10-15 seconds at a time.. Found it quite hard and the heli was seriously drifting to the left (i thought i already sorted this one out!!)..
Then afterwards I realize that Mr Numpty here was hovering in a cross wind.. Duh!! But the confidence is being built slowly and i'm getting more comfortable with the control..
So comes Fri and it was a glorious day!! 17 mins of joy over 2 batteries, good control, long hovers 30-40 seconds and whenever the heli drifts i bring it back instead of the 'land it and fetch it' scenario.. I loved it and was very happy...
Comes the third battery and more of the same, and for three minutes it was great then it got away!! and very calmly i bring it back (a bit too quick i need to add) and in the process of correcting it to trying to land (for some reason) i shut off the throttle too quickly.
Heli down sideways on the TG.. a bounce.. TG hub breaks and the heli tumbles backwards..
No swearing, and no panic.. It seems i just accepted it and walked over to collect it and assess the damage.. Funnily enough, i was glad i crashed.. Been sort of dreading it (after my lucky escape the first time), and now it's done and it's fine!!
Damage: Feathering shaft, Tail shaft and stripped gears on cyclic servos..
Spent a few hours fixing it today and enjoyed every minute.. i was getting to know my heli.. Taking it apart and putting it back together.. So proper first crash done!! Bring it on.. there is no fear now!!
(however, when it's time to fly the Rex i will be a nervous wreck)..
