hmm where did my post go...

bad news im affraid.. 2610 is 6 channel. you need 7 chans.

the other wire on the gyro controls the gain. you set this channel to affect how active the gyro is. without it theres no way of setting up the gyro.

its the transmitter thats the problem.

JR do the X 378 transmitter if you want to stay with JR. But for similar money you can get the futaba 9c which is much nicer to use. Futabas 7 channel tx which will work with your JR 700 rx is only about 150ukp

OUCH!! well that's it.... i'm gonna have to admit defeat... i couldn't spend any more money on this,i've put too much in to it, beside's that the wife is close to killing me as it is. It pains me to say but i'm gonna sell it and stick with my faithful raptor thanks to all who offered advise and info...

                Okay dont admit defeat yet.....

just wait and think about it..... You could do the following its a kind of cheat if you like.

Make sure the retracts are down the wheels are locked and cannot move

Test hover the helicopter set up the gyro so its in normal or heading hold
which ever you prefer and will fly in that mode.

Once the gyro gain is setup....

Thinking about it I dont think you would be able to use heading hold but Normal mode should work fine on the gyro.

Remove the channel 5 AUX from the Gyro to receiver.

Make channel 5 the channel for the Retracts.

Pain in the ASS but should work.....

Also means any gyro gain in HH or Normal mode will NOT be accessable.

doh. what about dropping and locking the wheels and leaving them down?

Then later on if you get on with the sport your going to want to fit a governor to the raptor which will mean you will want to upgrade your transmitter anyway.

Things come up second hand fairly regularly. keep an eye out on the BMFA classifieds.

                      hmmm another thought...

when i used multiplex transmitters. i had an issue with the 601. its a long storey but i ended up using one of the failsafe units the car guys use.

what they use them for is when the signal from the rx goes crap it feeds a preset value to the throttle servo to cut it back to idle.

what you do is plug it into the gyro gain wire. it then goes into failsafe mode and gives you a fixed value which is adjustable on the failsafe device. To start with i was a bit unsure about the reliablity of the device. but i used it for a good 6 months like that with no problems.

its not ideal but it will work.
