This price doesn't appear to include the BEC to drive the electronics. The price with a BEC inclusive ESC is £320.
The Scorpion Commander 15v Series Brushless Speed Controllers Max BEC Output 4 Amps @ 5.0 V and 6v on the 60 amp only needs a step down.

unless you use a 6v servo all round..

"Flying Season Beam E4 Starter Special"

The next Now @ 5 kits with Esc and Motor ordered, will have a Red/Black canopy added to any esc/motor type kits, instead of the white one!

    http://www.evorc.com/product.php/625...tor-v2-55a-esc

As far as the Beam vs G5, OK Beam will at the mo! Not run the 350 blades. But these are more money than a 325, so for a newbie is more money to break.
but it will run 6s if you kit out for it, so no gain there.. other than you need a 6s charger, so for a newbie is more money again..

Its nice to have the Guys that have purchased the kits, support not only each other but the Brand, but me personally.

I will in turn make every effort to support you as well, which is one of many reasons I think the Beam - G5 argument is a non starter..

      Hey - at last..!

I'll certainly 'give you' the support aspect. But I reckon I've got all the the support I needed, and the G5 was my first kit.

I had a Cellpro 10S already (it's the charger to have, even on 2S), so 6S on the G5 cost me no extra when I used the default ESC.

325 blades cheaper to crash - ok. But 350s are easier to fly with for a beginner ? Flying like a bigger heli was one of the reasons I went for the G5. Along with the programmable head, and 6S.

Cool, thats fine your happy with yours, as many are happy with mine

I am sure the support you get is cool other wise you would of got a Beam! or a Rex..

350 blades or 325 with a lower head speed will have virtual the same effect in feel to a newbie.

Programmable head now thats cool, you can change that to how you like it, then 3 weeks later its still at the same setting, but you can change if you want, most are 6 months later still there. nice idea though..

As I said you will get no argument from me..

          my thoughts

just putting my beam together at the moment the quality is joygasmic and its just falling together so far... had a align 450 loved it until i flew my rave and realised how in accurate it was(who thought i'm actually not that crap lol)
only issue with the rave i can see is don't break it because it hurts! with the beam you've got ,quality ,accuracy in flight(so i'm told which i believe) easy maintainance, cheap spares, and top service from rob.... no brainer really
          cheers Lee

If it ain't broke fix it until it is
yes i'm an idiot and no i couldn't care any less

Absolutely. Both G5 & E4 have happy owners.

Larger rotor disk + lower head speed + HV -> better power efficiency -> more flying time for the LiPos I can carry/afford.

I'm hoping that the larger rotors plus the head set up for stability will give me a beginner-friendy heli that can tolerate a bit of wind. Certainly better than other 450s. Then I can make it more responsive as/when I'm ready.

From what I've seen & read, both of the above seem feasible. The flights so far have been promising.

Honestly both are good mate and have a good following, which is what everyone wants in the end..

Its what makes this hobby all the more enjoyable, if we all wanted the same things it would be boring..

But it doesn't state that in the kit for the heli. I found this out by looking at the esc in isolation. A huge great cut and paste of blah, blah but not the fact it has the bec built in when looking at the E4 kit here http://www.evorc.com/product.php/625...tor-v2-55a-esc

But thanks for pointing that out to me.

Most definitely - and I hope I've not come across as knocking the E4.

What I do think, though is that when you're picking a heli, it's not enough to know that people have got on well with a particular model - you need to know why they've got on well with that model.

Only then can you judge if those factors apply to you, and choose accordingly.

If I was making the decision that Motomikey is (which I was about 6 months ago), I'd be considering a G5 (obviously, as that's what I bought...); and I'd want to know why the happy E4 user-base chose an E4 over a G5 & vice-versa. I could then judge how those factors might apply to me.

So I thought it was helpful to try and get that information into the discussion.

                    Though obviously I am a G5 fanboy...

oh I do want one, they just look great.

I'm going to carry on with my plastic mini Titian for the time being very cheap to fix and is rock solid stable, great choice for a beginner.
I would recommend the mini Titan basic plastic to anyone just starting like me as it's cheap and very nice to learn with. parts are pretty reasonable and readily available, it doesn't have that feeling of oh my God this cost me lots I had better not crash it which I'm sure helps you to relax a bit more.
