yup, torque isnt a major concernt. Accuracy and speed is. 56 works very well with a 401 on a trex.

anybody can be an Arsehole, it takes real commitment, dedication and a whole lot of effort to be nice.
You don't have to match servo make (or receivers/switches/batteries/leads actually) to your tranny. All the common makes work fine with each other.
Until I got a new Tx very recently, I was running 2 helis on a Sanwa Tx, with a JR receiver and Futaba servos - no problems at all.
One thing to be sure of though is that if you use (for example) a Sanwa receiver, be sure it has a Sanwa crystal, and similar for other makes. It's not worth mixing receiver and transmitter makes with other manufacturer's crystals.
basically Brian you have one of the cheapest gyros on the market. Tricky to get setup and even when working "good" they are pretty poo. So its expected to have to do a fair bit of correction.
your problem may not be a problem but might just be how it is.

I started out with a standard piezo gyro and a 148 servo on a Nexus, I am not saying it was good but it did the job it needed to when I got the mechanical setup perfect. I later upgraded the gyro to a CSM ICG400 and a fast Hitec digital 5925 servo. This was a huge improvement mainly because of the heading hold. I now use the 401 with a 9254 but its on my raptor now.
What the old gyro and Nexus did teach me was to fly the rudder which is something that I think a lot of people that start out with a HH gyro dont learn initially....

Ok thanks for all the advice, the gyro thats on was put there by my local model shop. As i have found out he seems to have cut a few corners on some of the stuff as his instructions were to sort me with decent gear, not being the tightest of people and spending good money on things i like to do when i get spare time.
I am a firm beliver in that when i take up a new hobby i like to buy things once and not have to change them to make it better just because some model shop likes his big profit margin, i will be having words soon.
While i'm here how can i stop movement in my pitch control arm as it seem's to flex from side to side when i imput a command on my cylic being a raptor the swash plate control arms connect to the side of it.
Once again cheers for the help
I started out with that same gyro and a standard Sanwa servo on the tail of my Shuttle,it was fine for hovering around and circuits etc, neither of which need Heading hold, the only thing was if you hovered in a crosswind you would have to keep a bit of rudder adjustment going or the heli would weathercock into the wind, not a problem with heading hold.
It was easy to mechanically set up,basically have no rudder trim set on the Tx and with the servo horn at 90 degrees to the pitch rod and the tail pitch arm set halfway thru its travel and hover the heli, then note which way the model tries to piro and land it and either lengthen or shorten the pitch rod until it will hover without piroing.
When you power the model upwards it would try to rotate on you due to torque but you could put Revo mixing in on the rudder or simply fly it hands on and input rudder yourself..
A good quality gyro like a 401 is a good investment but certainly not essential..
The pitch arm pivots on 2 bolts, check they are tight, also check that the Aeileron servo is not overtravelling and all the other servos while you are at it..
Thank you very much Raptor50luvver, i seem to have it behaving at the minute i had done that ajusted it and hold it now when i power up, i also fitted 85mm rotor blades instead of the 72mm all seems well for now but i have the 401 combo coming so as and when it plays up again i can change over.
i have found that newbies have enough on their plate to deal without having to worry about what the tail is doing too.
when i am teaching people they dont get near the collective and rudder until they get the hang of the cyclics. This makes the learning process a lot quicker.
