  • help with walkera 3#4b 2.4ghz please

    Hi all
Please help I’m new to his wonderful hobby got myself a few helis 2 blade 400, 2 cx2, 1 mcx, 1 walkera 4#3b 2.4ghz the latter has a problem only flown 3 times it takes ages to bind sometimes not at all when it does the right stick works fine the swash plate moves all directions but as soon as i use the throttle it fires up and then cuts out for a second or 2 then throttles up again without moving the stick and get no response from right stick, throttle down and wait 1 minute or so same again right stick ok movement all directions then throttle up intermittent response and the red led flashes fast on the heli batteries are full
Is my receiver faulty or transmitter
    Thanks
    Garry

that sounds like a faulty receiver or a loose connection of some sort so id would check your conecctions on the receiver

        Hi Garry, welcome.

Check the DIP switches on the back of your Walkera transmitter, compare them with your manual, if you havn't got one you can get a pdf one at the Walkera site, but their server is down ATM.

Welcome too the forum buddy, that's a nice line of machines you have there.

Once your problems are sorted have you actually flown a CCPM machine or a fixed pitch single rota (4#3b) before by chance?

Walkera's site is back up. Here is a link to their manual download page. The 4#3B is about half way down the first page. >LINK<

Mine does exactly what bruiser describes when the batterys are flat.

I would check the battery is properly charged.

Also check the battery connectors and wires for loose connections.

certainly if you have more than one battery, try swapping. My standard battery connectors were rubbish (wires intermittently popping out, one wouldn't even go into charging socket) so I ended up buying a pack of mini-deans, and those are superb. Much easier to handle. Quick bit of soldering, and Robert's your fathers brother.

All the batteries are ok changed them in the transmitter and also the heli batteries are new i have three the chances of all being faulty I think are slim.

                  400blade
All the connections are fine hade it looked at by someone more qualified than me and he says like you possible the transmitter or receiver he thinks more likely the latter
I have spoken to the seller and he’s sending a new receiver and transmitter just in case and i said i would purchase the item that was not causing the problem as a spare

                  Ayrobat
I did as you said and all is as it should be

                  Cambs flyer
Thanks for the welcome as Im new to the hobby I assume you mean by ccpm that’s the blade 400
I have flown it find it a bit scary think I will do more practice on the smaller ones first I’m just finding my feet but having fun

                  Holst
I have put the batteries on charge via the supplied charger all three seam too be charged as im new to all this have no way of checking this if there is a way please let me know i will buy the necessary equipment

                  Balders
I know what you mean the connectors are hard to handle especially if you have fingers like thumbs
I did shave the small notches off so i could easily get them apart but they are not loose
Best place to get the mini deans
i will update you all with my findings when i can
i will get to the bottom of this problem

                  Cheers all

If you have a multimeter check the voltage of the battery.

Mine are on charge now, but I will tell you the charged voltage when they are finished.

If its less than 3.7v then the heli wont fly properly.

I bought my mini deans on ebay

The batteries should charge up to 4.2v. I have four and regularly check them with a small digi multimeter and the supplied Walkera charger does a good job of getting them all to 4.2v.

I use a timer and fly each battery for 8 minutes, they then fully charge in about 30 - 40 minutes. I could fly longer but want to make the batteries last as many cycles as possible.

                        update

                        thanks Ayrobat
bought my self a mini multimeter today got Nigel to show me how to work it
tested all my batteries (3) all are showing full charge at around 4.2 (the numbers are small eye sight not as good as it used to be lol)
so looks like it may be the receiver
spoke to my supplier and hes ordered a new replacement receiver and transmitter hopefully here in 2 weeks he said
                        that's all for now
ta very much to you all

                          connectors

just been told as stated earlier the 4#3b does suffer from bad connection sometimes and they recommended Corally connectors as opposed to mini deans
i would love to here your opinions boys

I think either would be better than the standard connectors.
