  • ~Flying Emotions~

Everytime I fly, I'm so nervous that I'm thinking of 50 milliion things that could possibly go wrong with my rex.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way?

Interesting to know what others feel when they fly, whatever your level, beginner to experts.

BTW I'm still a relative beginner.

Concentrate. I sometimes catch myself thinking of other things & have to remind myself to concentrate on the heli. Suppose that means I'm getting more confident, but that's when accidents happen

I get easily distracted, so if I see another heli flying next to me, then I cannot help but look at it

I get nervous even with the MCX. I think it must be because I am a beginner . I'm sure I'll get over it

Being a relative newcomer as well I find I don't have time to get nervous as I'm too busy trying to concentrate on what my heli's doing. Just starting to try nose in for real and it's taking all my concentration to remember to reverse my stick movements!

I've been flying for almost a year now and feel pretty confident with a lot of moves up to some mild 3D.
I still get the jitters though especially when flying the 90!
When I stick to routines I am comfortable with then it isn't too bad and the nerves slowly fade away but not completely.
I think you need them a bit just to give you that edge.
I guess in time they will completely fade though I'm not entirely sure.
Hell, thats probably why we do it!

Since getting the Trex 700 I have become much more confident, even tried some piro flips this weekend! I think its the fact I have lots of power and plenty of time to recover, the bigger birds just seem to hang in the sky so much better.

I used to be in the same boat as you but I'm quite a few years down the line now and personal finances are better, now I can even fly my Trex 700 and crashing doesn't bother me. I tend to push the 700 pretty hard these days and I've only had one crash with it which was component failure, otherwise it's done quite a few gallons through the engine now and it just keeps going.

I do check my heli's over pretty regularly, checking links and for any out of place free play when cleaning the nitro heli's down and they've been pretty issue free. Generally if a heli is built well and looked after, failures are pretty rare my only problem is running out of fuel whilst inverted at 50ft altitude

Being able to fly without the worry of the expense of a crash is the single biggest factor in improving the range of my flying and I quite agree with Sao, 90 size heli's just seem to hang in the air for ever and manouvers are almost in slow motion with plenty of reaction time.
