help me please

hi guys,


ok here it is, ive been trying to practice flying my helis and only seem to be able to crash em. Its now starting to bring me down cos i want to be able to do this and dont seem to be able. I know that it takes time and practice but everytime i get a bit of height on the thing it flys towards me and i lose control hitting the floor at a rapid rate of knots.

So what i want to know is.........

Is there anyone in the Doncaster area that could and would be willing to give me a few lessons please?

I will not be the only one to say this i am sure, get yourself a sim, a must and will save you a hugh bill of constant new parts, most people if not all on this forum will say the same

Chris i know the feeling mate. I've been in the same situation where nothing seems to be going right and you're having trouble flying. It's normal ok? =)

I was crashing all the time when i was first learning and kept doing so until i got it right!

I first learned to keep up a heli using the micro picooz's, then from there i learned on a FP heli something like your honey bee. Then i got a sim, something like aerofly pro deluxe, that really helps for basic hovering flight.

I hope you can get someone to help you. It's very easy to get down in the mouth with this hobby, but stick with it. It's well worth the effort when you get over the hurdles.

Go play with the dalek for a bit, you will feel better

Yep get a sim phoenix is my choice but there are others. Using the sim will get you sort on the orientation aspect and then you will be able to get the hang of it easier with the real thing.

cheers guys, i have been using fms and i know its not the best since i can hover and fly and land on that, its prob just me being daft, i have 2 of these honeybees and they both react differently. ill keep trying ill get it in the end

It might help to get somebody more experienced to look over your heli and fly it to make sure its working properly. At least that way you will be able to see that its not a problem with the heli.

When I first started I couldnt fly for more than a few seconds without crashing, even after a bit of sim practice.

I am lucky as I took my heli to an empty warehouse where I work and practiced there, without any walls to run into and a high roof I could get into the air without as much worry about crashing. I just had to keep away from the ground, not like at home where im worrying about 4 walls and the roof as well.

When I got home something had clicked and i can now hover (tail in) pretty easily even in a confined space.

You will get the hang of it you just need more practice.

Any Sim is better then none at all, but FMS isn't going to improve your handling skill's at all mate.

Try the one linked above, it may well offer you the edge to really get started, but only Phoenix will offer you true to life flight physics, there are others possibly just as good, but Phoenix is what most of us use.

I think once you start real practicing on your PC you'll realise what a world of hurt your in right now.

For the time being I'd suggest grounding your birds before more damage occurs, hopefully someone is in your area who can offer a hand, but right now you need to spend hours on a proper Sim to prepare you for your first tail in hover jumps, then small duration hovers and so on.

Best of luck mate, don't let it get you down, just flying them alone is more art then science with hand eye coordination, and it's very difficult when you first start, I think we've all been there in one shape or form.

cheers guys you lot really make me feel better, i think the heli needs seting up properly and test flying by someone who knows what their doing ( not me lol) Ive learned alot from reading here and fettling but unfortnatley flying is alot harder than i thought it would ever be. Im not giving up i intend on getting a trex 500 and could do with being able to fly by then but who knows ill give it my best shot.
