  • Superglue/Hirobo Quark

After using a Lama V3 for some time, I thought it was time to move and following very good advice for Hobby Hanger in Yeovil, it was suggested that I try and buy one of these as the next step up. I have taken the plunge and purchased a second hand one - which is a little the worse for wear - but we all have crashes; at least I seem to. Not put in the air yet as it needed a new main frame - which I have done - a word of advice never ever take off the ball bearing connecters. these are held to the frame by a screw and it took some 3/4`s of an hour to put them on again- but then I am not in the first flush of youth. Problem is this the antenna has been supergluded to the receiver frame - I want to get if off as the aerial holder is broken: bearing in mind it is almost up against the mechanics, heat is out of the question, as it would damage the workings and parts are not cheap! Anybody have any ideas how to break the seal of the superglue without melting the plastic on the aerial and the case.

I'd use a very sharp craft knife to gradually scrape the glue off., and be very careful.

If you use superglue remover or any solvent you risk melting the plastic and the wire insulation anyway. You could try testing a small amount of remover on the plastic and wire end to see what effect it has. You risk ruining the wire whatever you do, but it can be fixed with a soldering iron. Just make sure you measure the exact length of the antenna before you do anything, incase it needs repairing.
