  • Taken the plunge!!

Oh dear... after much deliberating, humming and aaaarghing, I've put my money where my mouth is and bought my first transmitter. I spent the last week or so quizzing almost everyone on this super forum, and although I was swayed to the DX7, I have elected for the FF10 2.4.

I promised myself this hobby wouldn't just be another 'try it and see' as I really enjoy simming on my Phoenix, so I saved a few quid and have committed myself to the sport. I'm determined to learn the basics, and kitting myself out with a future-proof tx was a prioroty of mine (before I spent my tx money hard earned cash on beer, spread betting, and VC Poker!!)

I realise you may think I might have been foolhardy in rushing out and buying a tx, especially a £300+ model, but I am now even more determined to heli fly and eventually compete with you guys!!

Cheers for the tx advice over the last few weeks and special thanks to Nick at Inwoods for his helpful advice today.

    Cheers all.

      Thanks Mike W,

Why use my current cheapy tx though? Surely by getting familiar with the FF10 sticks I will get used to the 'feel' of the tx. I am to assume then that all tx sticks feel like one another? Remeber, Mike, I am total novice and qute blind to this heli flying...

Stick with my Buzz Fly tx and keep my FF10 for later?

Well ya can use it for the sim to get used to the feel and stuff it does I suppose ... It's just some of us use a diff Tx for the sim to stop wear on the main Tx .. I do sometimes use my normal Tx to fly the sim as am used to the feel of it ... Do whatever you feel comfy with at the end of they day

As for the feel of one Tx to another ... they all feel different .. most people mess with em till they get them how they want them to feel and what maybe good for one might not be for another

personally im with you Mrbusagain..... use the tx on the sim that you plan to fly with.
to me its like learning to drive a right hand drive car then wondering why you cant drive a left had drive quite so well.... totally different feel with the switches in different places.

people will say that the tx can get damaged from constantly plugging and unplugging the trainer cable.. but i have to ask, how many of your cheapo trannys have stopped working from sim use?
so what makes a good tx more likely to get damaged?
            craziness if you ask me.

Cheers Mike and Chemical for your cheering comments,

Boggy, you have me worried a little... do you not like the FF10 or would you have suggested a DX7 etc for that sort of money?

I guess he's right to take the mick, afterall, it might appear to the untrained eye that I am throwing cash at this hobby in the hope that it will buy me skill, but to be honest I don't really care. I'm gonna have 'shed' loads of fun.

Am already saving to buy that 'special' heli too Mike.

                      Cheers

                            Saving up...

not sure what heli though. Have a Buzz Fly SE at the moment (rebadged Walkera 4#3) but find it v difficult to hover as a newbie, so thats why I invested in Phoenix.

                            What heli would you sugest?

Finding the Blade 400 quite twitchy on Phoenix!!

Nice one =) I just have a simple 35mhz futaba t6exp tx. It's my first computer tx, was alot to get used to at first. But it does the job.
Would one day like to move up to 2.4ghz as not only do i prefer the shorter neater antennas, i like to have no interference. Preferably a spektrum dx7, hopefully.
