Hi just after a lil bit of advice, i have recently started flying with a coaxial heli and have got the pheonix flight sim i feel i'm ready to progress to a bigger heli after flying a broad range of heli's on the sim, flying in winds and auto gyro landings, i was thinking of getting the new esky belt cp v2, i would appreciate anyones comments as obviously this is a big jump from a coaxial heli.

Hey There,
Welcome to the forum
.
The Belt CP is a great helicopter in my opinion, For the price, and for the performance, though it will require some setting up to fly nice, and possibly some upgraded servos to make it fly even better.
I have not personally flew the v2, personally its not worth getting for the price, and it looks more like a toy then anything else, i recommend getting the Belt CP, some upgrades, like heading hold gyro, and some servos, and of course spares, as you will crash. but whats good with this model, is that spares come cheaply
The stock Transmitter is not good at all, but it is ok to get you started, but you will want to upgrade to the Spektrum DX6i which is a great 2.4Ghz Transmitter and you will feel the difference immediately.
But, all saying that..
If your budget allows you to push to a Trex 450v2, then go for it, its better then the Belt CP, as it has a full metal head, carbon mainframe, and its widely known.
Though the Belt CP can be pretty much upgraded to fly like a trex 450. But at a cheaper cost then getting a trex 450.
......
Hope this helps a little,
also, it depends on how far you are wanting to go into the hobby, some people just want to stay with electric, but most progress to nitro...
You can get a second hand pre-built Raptor 30v2 for around £250, which is a super beginner nitro helicopter. very stable and will be alot better to fly then any of the small 450 helicopters (if you fly it in phoenix you can tell the diffrence
.
Regards

Welcome to the forum. There are lots of threads on your question. There isn't really an answer as everybody is different. Basically the more you spend the easier they get. If you want to progress I'd start by buying a good heading hold gyro like the Futaba GY401 for about £50 second hand. If you buy cheaper stuff it'll make learning harder.

Welcome =)
The belt cp is ok for beginners. I flew the original belt cp and it was a bit tricky to setup. I found that trying a Honey Bee CP2/Twister CP V2 or similar FP heli was a great learning aid & boosted my confidence when first starting out. They're also cheaper than the belt cp.
Hope this helps mate =)~JASON~HELI 1 : TREX 450 SE GF

i'd say go down the blade 400 route
i did and I've never regretted it and the selling point for me was that it is rtf! bonus!Matt
Current = Blade mcpx v2 + DX6i
Future = 1st - PL6 + PSU 2nd - Chase 360 3rd - DX9 4th - Who knows...there's too much choice

Hi mate and welcome to the forum
I would be inclined to go straight in at the blade 400
As callum rightly says the cp is an ok heli but by the time youve spent youre money upgrading the belt cp to anywhere near a nice flying machine you will be knocking on the price of a blade 400 (dont ask me how i know this )

I have an heavily upgraded belt CP and its a very good flyer (now its upgraded)
However...
The stock gyro and tail servo are very cheap and make it much harder to fly.
Also the stock esky transmitter is harder to setup and has less ajustment than a propper computer radio like the Spectrum DX6i
When your starting out you will find it much easyer to fly a heli with a good gyro as the tail will stay where you want it, if your a beginner and the tail drifts around then it will make life much harder.
I would spend a little more money and buy a better gyro and tail servo as a bare minimum.
If you keep an eye on ebay you can often get a second hand dx6i transmitter and receiver for a good price.
For a heli I would look at the for sale section on the forum for a second hand trex 450 or similar, along with a decent gyro and servos.
If you buy a heli from one of the more experienced guys here it should be in good condition... if you buy on ebay you might end up with a heli that has been badly repaired or setup.
You might end up spending an extra £100 or so doing it this way but you will end up with a much more capable and easy to fly heli.
Its also well worth getting in touch with a more experienced pilot to test fly your heli before you try it. Joining a club with some heli pilots will be even better.sigpic
