  • Newbe says Hi

    Hi everyone,
I am guessing this is the correct place to introduce yourself? (apologies if not)
It all started about 12 months ago when I bought my son a £10 helicopter from the market (oh! and one for me to!) after sussing how to trim it so that it would actually stay in the air in the living room we had some fun but I soon became frustrated at the lack of control the 2 channels gave. For my birthday last year I convinced my wife to buy me something better. Went in the model shop I saw the guy flying a MASH helicopter around the shop and I was impressed at how controlled and stable it flew round the shop and that was it! I had to have one. After many hours and many replacement blades I thought I was getting quite good indoors and made the big mistake of taking it outside. Up it went (and up, and up and up) panic took over - off power and down it came with a thump! (maybe some of you have been there?) I took this as lesson number 1. I have since rebuilt it (although maybe I should have just bought another one as it would have been nearly as cheap!) and have never ventured back outside. Just starting playing on a SIM, pre-flight, only the demo version at the moment but having some fun.
I have now started looking at what I need to do to improve and looking through the threads on here has been quite valuable.

Thanks for taking the time to read - I hope in time I can get to the stage of adding advice for others.
    Chris Mac

      Hi Chris

Welcome to the Forum. You will find a wealth of info which will help you in the moneypit lol.

First suggestion is to get a decent sim, Most on here use Phoenix or realflight which are two of the most popular sims. With phoenix (£80) you need to buy a radio, realflight (£150) has one supplied but it is reflected in the price of both.

          Welcome Chris.

Do yourself a big favour and buy yourself a Phoenix sim.

Crash all day and all night it won't cost a penny.

The best investment you will ever make.

                Hi folks,
Thanks for the warm welcome - I get the message about the SIM. I'll put it top of the list of the things to get when I next have a few quid spare.
