  • What shall I read?

    Hi All

What books can you recommend for a newbie to read on the subject of RC Helis. I have checked Amazon and there are quite a few, some going way back, any recommendations?

Ray's Authoritative Helicopter Manual by Ray Hostetler

It's out of print at the moment over here as there's supposed to be a new (4th Ed I think) edition coming out soon.

Even when it is in print, it's bleedin' hard to find - I got my 3rd Ed copy from Quick UK I think quite a few years ago. If you want a new copy, you'll probably need to shop across the pond in USA - you might even get the new version over there.

If you can lay your hands on a copy, it's the only book you'll ever have to read on the subject. It's worth making the effort to find it.

There is a DVD version that is easy enough to get hold of, but it's not like having the book.

Also go over to helifreak.com and have a look through finless bob's video guides - they're worth their weight in gold and depite his interesting choice of music for the intro's they've taught me how to solder (sodder... lol), set up my DX7, build my heli's and sort my gyros out - he's a leg-end...
