  • Mode 1 v Mode 2

    Hi All

Just started getting into heli's (Raptor Titan) and i'm loving it but I'm a bit confused about which mode I should be learning with. I started flying fixed wing probably about 20 years ago and learn't to fly in mode 1 (throttle/aileron on right stick), having finally decided to bite the bullet and get into heli's I have continued with mode 1.

After some conversations with fellow heli pilots, I have been wondering if I should change to mode 2, re-learning 20 years of flying!

Can anyone tell me the pro's and con's of each - why should I consider changing to mode 2? At the moment I have only been told this is preferable by those that have learn't that way!

    Thanks in advance!

I also learn't to fly fixed wing mode 1 around 20 odd years ago but when I started flying helis after a few years of fixed wing, I learnt to fly helis mode 2. I changed fixed wing over to mode 2 a couple of years ago which was a pretty painless event.

I'm sure plenty of people will tell you which mode is better and why, personally I'd say it's down to what suits you best.

Very much like yourself, Was flying planks in the eighties mode 1 so decided to stick with mode 1 when I joined the heli brigade almost 2 years ago.

It makes no difference, Fly with what your comfy with.
