    Hi All

I took my Heli out and flew it for the first time today, I was all over the place but managed not to crash it or injure myself, the wife shot in through the kitchen doors at one stage cos she thot it was coming at her, quite funny.

Anyhow I did have a few rough landings and now the Gyro (GY401) LED is flashing slowly and when I try and lift of the tail begins to spin quite quickly and I have to land it, I had to replace the tail boom brace as it snapped in half but other than that it seems fine.

    Any Ideas?

    Have you got rudder trim?
Is the gyro initialised in HH mode?

If it's flashing slowly it's somehow lost it's centre setting. Power off and back on and it should be okay. The other thing is make sure you didn't turn it on with one rudder trim setting then change the trim setting. This will also make the led flash slowly.

        Hi

Power of on does not do anythind, I have set the rudder trim to +56 and it seems abit better, the light is still flashing.

Is the gyro initialised in HH mode? How do I check that?

When you power up the heli the switch on the Tx should be in HH mode. (assuming you have set the Tx switches) . If you are only operating on 6 channels the gyro setting in the Tx should be permanently set to a gain that is HH. )Otherwise the gyro will not set.

            David,

I had the heli set up buy a Pro, I bought it second hand (4 mths old) It was flyin fine until I had that hard landing now the lights flashing, I no very little about this as its a new hobbie, I guess I can take it back to him but he lives an hour and a half away. The switch on the tx you are talking about is ch.5 and before it stopped working when i flicked it the light went solid red or out

If it went solid red then it is in HH. Get rid of the trim and set the tail up correctly. Use the following guide

              http://www.swift-tuning.com/gy401-setup.php

You shouldn't need any trim or if you do you have to power up in HH with the new trim settings to allow the gyro to use this as it's new centre

There are two other ways of resetting this gyro. One is to flick the gyro sensitivity switch back and for and the other is to waggle the rudder control left and right a few times. Resetting does two things. One is to set the value that the gyro will use in heading hold as the zero rate setting, the other is to set the value from the rate sensor that corresponds to zero rate. Your sensor could be damaged by your hard landing or you might have a loose connection on channel five. Do you have the instructions, if not they are on the net.
