  • Help! locked up shaft - wont start

Complete novice here. Hope someone can help me.

I have been quite happy learning how to use my Hirobo Sceudo Evo IC Helicopter up to now.

Helicopter started up fine but after 30seconds started a little spluttering but carried on for a few more seconds whereupon the engine stopped.

I thought - "I start it back up again" so I went over and connected up starter and glowplug lead. I went to start the starter and the starter tried quite happily for 5 seconds to 'crank' the engine but then it all locked up.

Could it be that I have flooded the engine? I did think this so I took out the glowplug and tried the starter to flush the fuel but the starter wouldnt turn.

What could it be? Could the clutchshaft have locked somehow?

Not sure what other info to provide. Engine is an OS and is 30size.

    Cheers,

what can happen is that the fan can come undone from the engine. when this happens it pushes the clutch up into the clutch bell and locks the engine.

drop the engine out and take a look.

What happens is that if the fan isnt on the crank properly then when you hyrolock it, the starter spins the fan off the crank.

use a crank locking tool and locktite the crank nut.

The fan is normally locked in place with some locking screws, these should have threadlock applied. The clutch shaft can also come loose from the engines output shaft, again this should have threadlock applied upon assembly. I had the same thing happen on my very first heli, a nexus 30.
