  • dragonfly 22E perhaps?

    Hi all,

I'm a newbie...sort of...about 6 years ago I had a kyosho calibre that I used to fly, but lack of time meant I got rid of it.

my nephew (14) is interested in having a copter and I know that trouble I had getting started so I was looking around at getting him a cheap electric model for him to try (no point spending a couple of hundred quid if he just crashes it then gets bored)

I know the prevailing advice is that a cheap one will be harder to fly and I should spend the money getting a better one to start with, but let's just ignore that for a sec.

so, I've seen the dragon fly 22E for sub 100 which is a 6ch version, or maybe I should get him a simpler 4ch?

there are REALLY simple ones that fly up/down and left/right, but I think it's nice to be able to do a bit more than that!!

so...what are peoples thoughts on the 22E?

    many thanks

I have a walkera 4ch and have never had any problems, good stable flight dispite plenty of minor crashes. I'm learning to fly quite happly with it and dont see why they get frowned at so much. As for the 22 i couldnt say..

thanks, I've also seen the dragonfly #4 aswell, and it seemed like a good one (does all the things I would think are useful - full cyclic control for sideways and backwards flight etc)

so this might be a better buy for 75.

I wouldnt touch any walkera product with anything other than a bin bag, Shite quality control on part's. And deffinatley not recomended for a begginer.

Good + Cheap are not words associated together when buying heli's.

And Electric and Cheap really dont go together so well in the RC Heli world

Cheap and Toy do go hand in hand......

I think taking the nephew for a lesson is a splendid idea, It will give him a feell for if he want's to further the hobby any, and you are sure to get great advice on starter packages at a flying school or club.

Midland had the Humming bird v2 complete, with transmitter and the whole lot for 100 on the nose, so if you are thinking about a 4 channel fixed pitch, you can't go wrong with that.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

            And a DX8 too
